Knottie vibes needed

Again, everyone knows about my not so great job position right now, right? (If not, see quit or be fired post below.)So yesterday I got a call from the local Board of Education asking if I still wanted to interview for a Spanish teacher position.... um... YES! I have an interview Friday(!!) which is insane b/c new hires start back to school on the 18th... less than 2 weeks away. So what I need to happen is to get this job, and in the mean time, let my other job fire me, or let me quit.  I actually spoke w/ my boss today and told her I want the option to get out of my contract if they are considering firing me and let me quit... that way it won't ever come up on my record that I was fired.  So she's gonna see what they say.  I am freaking out about this... sorry to post on this wedding board so much about my job drama!  I won't really be on here tomorrow b/c I am out in a meeting all day and the interview is first thing Friday morning.  Wish me luck!! (And any interview tips are much appreciated.... :)

I was a Spanish major in college and always wanted to do something with it but didn't know what... so teaching might work out!

Wishing you the best of luck!!  Interviews have always made me so nervous, but on my last interview I was just myself and I guess it paid off because I got the job.  Just be confident and be yourself!

That's awesome! I wish you lots of luck! I interview a lot of people at work, I just say try to have fun with it, it you actually seem happy/excited to be there, it will definately be noticed.  And I'm sure they will ask about your previous job, just try to think of at least one thing positive to say about it!Good luck!

Nice! Good luck!My biggest piece of interview advice - don't let it show that you're so frustrated with your current job.  It seems like an obvious thing, but I've interviewed quite a few people that when you ask why they're looking for something new will totally bad mouth their current employers.  Make sure you say something like above - "I was a Spanish major and I'm looking to get back to something a little more relevant to that."  Be yourself and let your personality come out!  A lot of times in interviews people are trying to get a feel for your personality and how you'll fit in there rather than scrutinizing everything you say - give them your answer, not a perfectly rehearsed text book answer.Relax and try not to let your current situation get you nervous.  You'll do great! :-)

Good luck!As far as interviewing, take the stance that you're interviewing them as much as they're interviewing you.  That allows you to feel more on equal footing and act more natural and poised.

Fingers crossed! My only advice is to go in there with the attitude/confidence that THEY need YOU because you are the best person for the job.

Good luck lady!!  You're going to do great!!!As far as interviewing advice, a few things:1.  Be prepared to answer the questions you know will come up, "Why are you interested in a career change?", "Why do you want to be a teacher?", etc.2.  Ditto pps, the worst thing you could do is "trash talk" your current position.  Make sure you don't say anything negative about your current situation.3.  Smile! :)Can't wait to hear how it goes!

Best of luck!  Don't be nervous.  Firm handshake, eye contact, comfortable posture all come in handy.  Answer all questions completely but don't ramble on.  Seem interested and ask questions in return.  You'll do great.

My best interview advice is to go to the library and get the book: What Color is Your Parachute? I read it last time I was looking for a job and it gives really helpful tips on interviewing AND job hunting. Good luck!
