in need of a photographer

hey ladies i'm getting all my vendors in order for my wedding next spring and am looking for a photographer. i'm on a very tight budget and can only spend up to $1000 on a photographer. does anyone have any recomendations on who to look into and who to stay away from.

We just got married a couple of weeks ago and I absolutely LOVED Greyes Photography (link). Gilbert is really creative and has a great eye for artistic shots. I'm not sure what style of photos you are looking for, but his have a vintage look to them. He's just starting out on his own so his prices are fairly low. I'm not sure what his rates are now, but when we booked him it was under $1000 for all-day photography with Gilbert as the main photographer and his wife as a second shooter. You also get all high-resolution photos on CD with printing rights.

Thank you. I'll def look into them. I'm hoping to find someone closer to the the $500 rannge but we will see.

The only place I found in that range was Jolie Images. We didn't book with them but if you want more information just search Jolie Images on the Chicago board...there have been some reviews/comments lately on them that might help you make a decision.

When we booked with them, their price was $700. If you don't need all-day coverage, you could ask if they'll do a limited number of hours for a lower price.

ETA: You can check on Craigslist for lower-priced photographers. That's how I found our photographer. The only thing is most of the people who post there have limited or no wedding experience. It took me a long time to find someone whose portfolio I loved and who had done at least one wedding already.

i signed a contract with melissa jaen. shes new to the area, has done weddings before. shes giving us an engagement session, all day covereage for the wedding, edited copy of the pics on file, and the rights to the photos for 500.

i think her prices went up to 700. but shes super sweet and probably could negotiate with you.

Check out Teresa Dalbera. She is a great photographer and will definitely fit your budget. She did my engagement photos and she will do my wedding for $600. Just send her an email for more info, here is her website to check out her photos.
