Debating about a veil...

I've been going back and forth about whether or not I should wear a veil for our ceremony. Two things I'm taking in to consideration: I'm 35, and this is my second wedding. I've read some posts on here before that some people do not think 'older' brides should wear a veil and apparently 35 is considered 'older'. As for it being my second wedding, it just doesn't seem like it's necessary. With the way I'm wearing my hair for the wedding (click on my 'gobluebh' and you'll see the inspiration), I think it would look cute to have a two-tiered veil that you would see above my head, and it would be fingertip. I wanted to post this on the Indiana board, because when I 'lurk' on other boards, it seems like people give their honest opinion, but get extremely rude writing their comments. Instead of helping, some people just put other people down. I've noticed with this Indiana board that everyone is so nice and helpful. I'm 80% sure I want to wear a veil. I am the bride, and I think it would be beautiful with my dress. BTW, thanks to all of you Indiana girls who make this board pleasant to read!

    It's your day and if you want to wear a veil go for it! It doesn't matter if it's your second wedding (this is the one that counts right?) or that you are an "older" bride (doesn't make your wedding any less special than someone who is 24). I say if you want a veil you should :)

    Absolutely wear a veil if you want to.  This is definitely something you can say 'dammit, I want it my way'.   Most bridal crap isn't *necessary* if you ask me, but if there is something you want to do that makes it feel more like your wedding, do it.

    I agree, it's your day do what you want! Plus I think a veil would look really nice with that hair style.

    Yup. Agree with PPs. I think veil or no veil is the brides decision no matter how many times you've been married. As PP said, THIS is the one that counts. If you think it would look pretty with your dress then definitely go for it. Who cares what other people think you should wear. "Technically" you aren't supposed to wear white once you are no longer "pure" either, but the world would be full of brides in colored dresses if we all followed that rule. :) 80% sure sounds pretty sure to me! Can't wait to see how it turns out. GL!

    I agree with you that it will look beautiful with your dress and hair.  Whoever said you shouldn't wear one made that rule up!I am pretty sure this is your dress, so this might help you visualize:

    Ditto on PPs' comments.  The people who made those comments are probably the same people who say "older, second-time" brides shouldn't wear a wedding gown either--you're doing that, aren't you? :)  People are punks; ignore them.

    Do what you want!  If people are "offended" that you DARE wear a veil on your wedding day, then they can't really be that great of friends anyhow, right?

    I agree, I think you should wear the veil! I think it would look really good with your dress and hair. And I've never heard that older brides shouldn't wear a veil.  It's your day, do what you want!  :)

    Everyone else has basically summed it up!! If that's what you want, then wear it. BTW, I've never heard older women shouldn't wear a wedding dress  or a veil. I apparently fall into the "older" category too at 34. But who cares, I will most def wear a wedding dress and a veil if I choose. I say GO FOR IT!

    I think you should wear whatever you really want to wear. I am 36 and wore a normal fingertip veil. I loved it. So I say go for it!

    all the the meanings behind the veil are purely symbolic, just like the white dress.  I think if you like it, and it looks pretty, then wear it! I haven't decided myself, but mainly because our ceremony is outdoors and it tends to be windy.

    Well I am also 35 and this is also my second wedding. and no - we are not old! I think if you want to wear a veil then you should. I think the only second wedding "etiquette" is that you don't wear one covering your face. But really - do what you want - this is the wedding that counts :)Not sure what I will do myself - but I remember from my first wedding that I just really felt like a bride when I put the veil on - so I can totally understand you wanting to wear one!
