Indiana

OOT Bags?

Hi! About 90% of our guest list will be coming from out of town so we are putting together some cute little out of town bags that will be waiting for everyone at the hotel :) We are going to include some water, snacks, maps of the area, timeline for the weekend etc. We want to include some "Indiana" items as well...but seeing as I just moved here about a year ago...I don't really know a lot about the state yet! I was trying to figure out something related to the Indy 500...but I don't want to be putting little toy cars in the bags...haha! Does anyone have any ideas of little trinkets or gifts that we can include that would have something to do with Indiana?

Could you make your snacks Indiana related? There is a great popcorn place in Edinburgh that makes a ton of flavors of popcorn and packages it in smaller bags. Or local fudge from an Indiana vendor. It's tough to think of things Indiana related that still might be useful instead of just another trinket... I'll keep thinking.

Not Just Popcorn is the place in Edinburgh. Here is the website for them http://www.notjustpopcorn.com/Also, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has a giftshop on the property in the museum. Maybe you could go there and check out what they have in the way of small trinkets. I remember keychains, magnets, pens, etc.

-Easley or Oliver Wine.  I know Easley does small custom bottles if you want to go all out.-Just Pop In Popcorn-Endangered Species or South Bend Chocolate-Beer from Oaken Barrel (they brew their own)-Frito Lay has a plant in Indiana so it kind of fits ig you want to include a small bag of chips in each one

There's also the South Bend Chocolate Factory that have stands up in the middle of the mall.  And I think there's a sock making factory down in Brown County that makes cute socks, but I can't remember the name.Or there's always Colts/Pacers/Indians stuff you could get.

The sock store is called For Bare Feet.

I ditto Just Pop In (they have an Indy mix that's really good and obviously named after the city) and South Bend Chocolate Co, I know they have a location on the circle downtown, they'd probably put together little bags for you. They already have small IU, Purdue, etc boxes and bags.

Just found the best website for little items to go into the Out of Town Bags: www.minimus.biz Samples sizes of everything! I'm having a beach wedding in Californina so we are including packets of Suntan Lotion, California Raisins, Aspirin etc....all the items were very affordable and there was no minimum order required;) Had to share this one;)

Are you planning a big/late party?  If so, I would include some single packets of tylenol : )

I second the idea of Oliver Wine. Its very affordable since you have to do so many bags, not to mention its delicious! My fav is Soft Red, but I've liked every flavor they have!

Third the Oliver Wine.  I'm in Bloomington and not sure about other Krogers, but ours offers a 10% discount on 6 or more bottles.  My parents also bought it by the case at Oliver for a nice discount for their wedding.  It's an amazing place to go picnic and taste test if you've never been!

Thank you for all the suggestions ladies! Chrissy-Yes, our ceremony doesn't start until 7:30pm so it will be a late night, so that would be a good idea! Our guest list is up to 150 people so far and we are still missing a few RSVP's so I'm thinking wine would be out of the budget...but the popcorn, chocolate and other little snacks are all great ideas! I will have to look into those :) And that website rocks for travel size stuff! Thanks!! Did a lot of people do OOT bags or did you mostly have people from in state?

Most of ours were in state, so we didn't do OOT Bags.  I am glad we didn't have to spend the money, but I think they would have been fun to put together!I was in a wedding last year where they did them and the tylenol was very helpful the next day : )Go to Sam's of Costco if you (or someone you know) has is a member.  They have tons of individual stuff in bulk: candy, chips, etc.  You can also get the bottles of water there.
