Newbie!

I have heard about this site from others and read plenty of magazines the rave about it.... I am hoping to get some help that I long need.... We are trying to do a small wedding in a DE beach. We are guessing about 70 people or so. Does anyone have any ideas for a beach ceremony/reception? I live in New Castle so its not that easy to jump in the car and start looking. I was thinking of getting a large beach house but I have no idea how to set it up or anything. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I plan to do as much as I can by myself since we are on a tight budget. We are trying to keep it under $5k. I have my best friends mom who does cakes, I am going to see if she will do ours. I am going to do all the decorations and bouquets myself, which will only cost us no more then $300. My dress is only going to be about $200. So with all that being said, that leaves me room for everything else. Any thoughts on vendors for the beach area? Our date is October 2nd, 2010 so we have a little bit of time for everything. Thanks girls! I am sure I will be posting with more questions as I think of them. :)

Jenn rented a beach house for her wedding reception location and it was so cute! I would suggest you page her for maybe some contact info because I bet she would be a wealth of information. :) Fianlly, Welcome to the Delaware Board. We are having a get together (G2G) on Sunday at the BWW on limestone road. Maybe you can make it and meet the awesome ladies of the board. :)

Hmmmm... paging someone? I am not quite sure what the means or how I do that! Can anyone let me know? Thanks for the welcome's... I see why everyone raves about the Knot... Everyone is so friendly! What is a G2G? No idea what that means, but Sunday is fiance's birthday party so that day is devoted to him. Thanks though!!! :)

Hi, welcome, and congrats on your engagement!  We are a bunch of lovely ladies ready adn willing to help with anythign you need. To page someone, just create a post with their name in the title like **Lmicolucci**.  that way, the person can see that they have a question.  I do know that Jenn and Dewdrop both got married on the beach last year.  They would be  your best bet for information.  In fact, my boss's daughter got married on the beach in rehoboth last november and then had their reception at LaLa Land.  It was for about 40 people.  Also, if you don't want to do your own flowers, I can reccommend my florist to you.  She is out of middletown and does her business out of her house.  She specializes in silk floowers, and my total package, with 1 bouquet, 1 throwaway, 3 BM bouquets, 2 wrist corsages, and 6 bouts is costing me just a little over $300.  Look at my bio, click on photo galleries, and click on flowers to see pics.  Just let me know if you want her information and i'll be happy to pass it on.  We have G2G's about once a month or so.  We also have girls night out (gno) at Matilda's about once a month too.  If you ahve a facebook account, you can friend us and you'll be able to see more about it.

WOW! Thank you, everyone, for all the welcome's and informatin so far! Now that I know how to page someone, I will get right on it! As for facebook, I do not have! I have myspace, but don't ever use it anymore. I do not have the time! Between working full time and taking a full time schedule at school, looking for a house and now planning a wedding, I do not have time to even catch my breath! If anyone can post information on here for me to see about the G2G's, I would greatly appreciate it! I know I will have lots more questions as time goes on! Thanks girls!

Yay on being date twins! I can bet you are farther along then me though! I read your bio about the house hunting... All I can say is WOW! Fiance and I are in the exact same boat as you are! We are going FHA and not approved for much either. All that is out there is shor sales or forclosures that need ALOT of work. We have found3 houses that we liked but didn't get to em in time  :( So we are also looking for houses too. Keep your head up.. It'll happen when it is intended to!

Yeah, I haven't updated it lately, but we just recently were denied FHA funding.  FI is a 1099 employee, and to get FHA, you have to be a W2 for at least a year (just a note for all those who may purchase a house!).  So we have to wait for another year...we are looking for apartments right now.  We are hoping that since it's been put off, we will be able to afford a little bit more the next time around.Though if you need a realtor, ours was amzing, awesome, highly recommend- she worked her butt off trying to find a mortgage agent that would put us through. If you need suggestions for anything, let me know :)

oh.. that sucks! I am sorry to hear that. What about doing a piggy back loan also known as an 80/20 loan? Its where you take 2 loans out; one is for 20% (acting as your down payment on a house) and then the second one is an 80% loan (the remainder of the house). With that, you would not have to have PMI insurance either. Is that an option for you guys? I will keep that in mind about the agent. We have one right now and he is great too. But we will see. Anything is possible!

Hi! I'm a lurker, so the other girls don't know me, but If you need help with inexpensive invitations or other things, email me at kelseyjean85 at gmail dot com. I love to design so I thought it would be fun to help out other brides...I'm not a vendor, I swear! But I would love to help design/create anything you want just for the cost of materials. I also live kind of near the beach — in Salisbury, Md., so about an hour from the Delaware beach and 30 minutes from the Maryland beaches. My friend is a wedding photographer who lives in Fenwick, so if you have any questions, she's really knowledgeable and I could pass some questions along to her. Let me know!
