Venue contracts.....what should I know?

Hi knotties. I just got engaged in May and I have been lurking on the boards getting advice and vendor information. Thanks to you guys I have picked the perfect venue!!! Arnaldo's downriver. I saw all the good reviews this place got from other posts on here so I decided to check them out. I was sold once I saw the website but you always have to check things out for yourself. Now we have a date!!! yay!! july 7th of next year.

Anyways. My fiance and I are going to go sign the venue contract on Monday and I wanna know what to expect. Should every little detail be in writing? How should this go? what shoud definately be on the contract? I know I need to read and reread the contract a few times I just want a heads up on any small details that might be overlooked. Thank you for your help.

    What are your expectations?

    1) Do you want candles? (If so, make sure you understand the rules about open flames)
    2) Do you want flower petals (If so, make sure they don't have a policy against real flowers unless you're okay with using silk)
    3) What time can you (or vendors) start set up? What time does everything need to be cleaned up by?
    4) What happens if something is damaged (stained carpet, broken chair, etc.)
    5) Are they providing food or alcohol? Can you bring anything in? (In case you want edible favors or something)
    6) ARE THERE ANY EXTRA FEES?!?!?

... and it's not even 7:30 yet so I definitely know I didn't cover everything but I hope that helps [: CONGRATS!!

Yay! We're having ours at Arnoldo's too!

They are pretty good about most of the stuff. the contract signing for the deposit is pretty straight forward!

But they don't let you bring in any food without a reciept for it. So if you do want to bring in something, GET THAT IN WRITING! Their contract states NOTHING other than the cake, so make sure Robin writes it in, and initials!
