Hello Brides - Okay, I need some opinions, because my mom and I have been really arguing about seating cards or not? She really likes the board idea, displaying every guests names in alphabetical order and placing a table number next to there name. Now, that wouldn't be a bad idea if we were having a buffet style dinner. However, we are having a sit down dinner, which the guests will have menu options. Therefore the waiters will need to know who ordered what when bringing the dinner out. I do not want the waiters to ask "who ordered steak at this table?" Most people will have RSVP'd too long ago to even remember what they ordered. I could use the board and then have each person with a place card at the table, assigning people to specific seats, which will symbolize to the waiters who got what for dinner. However, should I assign seats at the actual table that they are assigned to, or should guests have the ability to pick their seat at the table that they are assigned? I am not sure about using tented seating cards, but I want some different to that aspect. But I think for the dinner purposes, I like the individual cards or something to help guests get to their seats? Another consideration that we need to take is that we are inviting about 300 people, so if 250 people show up, that is still a lot of people trying to look for their place card or whatever? I need some opinions, suggestions, anything that will help ease the tension about this with my mother. We should be arguing about more important things!
