Reception Decor

How are you incorporating your vintage theme into the reception decor?  I need inspiration... spill your details!

Re: Reception Decor

  • What kind of venue is it?  And what kind of vintage theme are you going for?  Victorian? Roaring 20s? 1940s glamour?
  • It's a country club... pretty muted palate but big huge chandeliers.  I was thinking victorian...
  • Maybe some silver or peweter candle stick holders with whatever color candles that match your "wedding colors".  I think burgundies and pinks are very victorian.  Or what about a lit oil lamp as a centerpiece on each table?  I'm not sure what restrictions your vendor has about candles, so these could be terrible ideas.. I dunno.
  • On "vintage" idea I have for centrepieces that can work for any vintage theme is making photo lanterns.   I'm collecting black and white photos of our parents, grandparents and great grandparents--either wedding photos or just couple photos when they were young and in their 20's or 30's.  I'm making lanterns using three photos printed on vellum, framed and put together to form a triangle.  Then the candle or LED light is placed in the middle and the result is lovely!  Check out my "ideas and inspiration bio" for a look at the idea from Martha Stewart and to see how others have done it!
