July 2012 Weddings

I know it's not Wednesday but...

I really need to get this off my chest, I hope you ladies don't mind!

1. Immediately after moving, our dog got into deer bones and he's been having uncontrollable diarrhea for a week now. The smell of it makes my stomach roll.

2. FI's parents keep on hauling stuff to our house. We have way too many stuff already. They're mostly FI's old stuff from childhood. I'm annoyed because they have a huge shed and we DON'T want them! Now we got to sort through everything.

3. FMIL asked us for the 100th time if we could take in FI's brother (who has down's) this weekend. For the 101st time, we said we can't. Then on Sunday she sends me a text saying "pick up brother at 3:30 on Fri and then drop him off back in town on Mon morning". Excuse me?? They're going to Vegas and they have tons of family in town and we know this isn't urgent.

4. Our sliding deck door does not lock again. We had a locksmith come over when we changed our locks, he fixed the deck door. Now it's "broken" again or something.

5. This morning I find out FFIL is coming over to bring more stuff and pick up the stuff he accidentally brought over. I had to scramble and gather the stuff he dropped off by mistake and then leave our door unlocked (which I HATE) so he can come over. Why tell us the last minute?

6. I had no time to clean up our dog's diarrhea mess in the garage this morning. I've been cleaning it up everyday.

Okay, I am done. Thanks for listening.

  • Oh Man! I hope your day gets better! Hang in there. I hope your puppy gets better :(

  • Oh my gosh! That sounds really overbearing.  How far is FI's family from your new house?

    SET BOUNDARIES NOW!!!

I hope your puppy is okay =)  If you try mixing rice in with his food, that is supposed to help make things more solid.
  • Holy hell. I'm with Penny, you have GOT to put your foot down with your FIL's. They are being totally controlling, demanding, and way stepping over the line. I get asking you to pick someone up from school every now and again, but assuming that you'll babysit all weekend whenever they want without even asking is totally not cool. Ugh, hopefully that gets better soon.

And for your sake as well as your dog's, I hope he gets better soon! My mom's cats go through bouts of puking everywhere and she hates finding a surprise every day when she gets home from work.

The house stuff will work itself out. I've never owned a home but even after I moved into my apartment, there was so much stuff that I had to take care of all within the first few weeks. Thing started to settle down after that, and I'm sure they will for you too.

    Hang in there!

  • You poor thing. Sounds like you're having a bad week!

I agree with Penny - rice may help. I used to give my dog rice and boiled ground chicken when he was having stomach issues (which was like once a month because he would lick the fire hydrants in NYC - gross).

  • oooh, I feel for you having to go through all of this.  I think you have to get your FI to stand up to his parents!  You guys have a lot on your plates right now without adding unnecessary responsibilities.

I hope everything works itself ou and that your dog feels better!

    Cheer up!

Aww I'm sorry to hear about all of this stress! I don't have anything else to add to what PPs have told you. Just hang in there! It'll get better!

  • It's all good Katie!!!  I agree with Laurel that you have to put your foot down with them!!!  If there is more family in town, then have them watch him...You already told them no....is FI putting his foot down??

Sorry about puppy mess...our puppy gets that way too sometimes Its frustrating...I would take him to the vet to make sure he is okay and didn't get sick with anything else from eating the deer...

Sorry, but I totally giggled at this visual... dogs are so dumb hahahaha

Hang in there, Katie!  Just take one thing at a time so you don't get overwhelmed.

Also, I think your FI should be dealing with his mother, not you!

  • Wow..just wow. I feel for ya. I can't believe the nerve of FMIL to keep INSISTING that you take FI's brother - you clearly have enough things going on.  How many times do you have to tell her that you just can't??

This is a bit off topic - but is FI's brother deaf as well, does he know sign language?

  • Ugh!  How annoying!  I am sorry your week is going this way!  I hope your dog feels better soon.

Your FIL's need to back up and back up now!!!  They are crossing lines.  You need to let them know!

Nope, he's hearing and he barely knows sign language. It's quite difficult for me to communicate with him. Signing is hard for him, he's 21 and he's so sweet. FI understands him better (very good at lip reading) and usually "interpretes" for me if I talk with his brother :)

Thanks ladies, I spoke with the vet and going to have our poor dog without food for 24 hours and then feed him a bland diet. He's going to be a maniac- he loves to eat!

The FILs live about 45 minutes away but work in the same town as I do. FIL is retired so I'm assuming that FMIL is telling him to do this and that.

I'm going to have a talk with FI tonight about everything. Sometimes I feel the stress more than he does. Things get to me more. He's very laid back.

& this how FI & I balance each other out too =)
  • I hope things get better soon!! your poor doggie, hopefully the new diet will help him!!

If it makes you feel any better, my crazy obnoxious loud co-worker who I have complained about in the past has been having a screaming match on the phone with his brother about the tombstones/graves that they are purchasing for their parents. Sadly, I am not joking....

WOW....seriously...I would have walked up to them & said, you know, we have conference rooms you can use to discuss this privately...and hopefully they'd get the hint...
  • Here's to hoping your week improves dramatically from here on out dear!
