How much are you paying your dj?

My wedding is in May and I'm looking for a dj who wont charge me an arm and leg. I'm having a day wedding and its only going to be about 3 1/2 hours long. Some quotes that I have been getting are a little outrageous so Im' wondering if that's normal or not. TIA!

I'm using DJ Pro Oklahoma. They have 2 price tiers. 4 hour packages. The basic package is $400 and the deluxe light package with slide shows is $800....I got the light package, will let you know how it goes.

Just a thought, we met with our DJ last month and he is wonderful to work with, he went over many questions and some good points that we didn't think of. Our venue is going to be larger than most others and he really spoke with us about how much sound would be needed to actually make it sound good. I know personally I hate going to events where either I am up close and am blasted out or at the back of the room and I can't hear a thing so our DJ compensated for those wants and needs and customized a package for us. So a thought about pricing is one package might not work for everyone some might be more...some might be less but I guess my main thought is after our meeting WOW I am glad we put some work into this part of the reception!
