DJ Recommendations

Hi everyone! So we're trying to find a good DJ that doesn't cost a ton of money. We're looking at both Get Down Tonight and Main Event DJ. Does anyone have suggestions for DJs from these places? If you used them, how much were they and how happy were you with them? We don't want props if possible. If you didn't use them but have a suggestion, please let me know! TIA!

We're using Ben Woodhouse from GDT. So far we are happy with him. We will meet with him on Monday to finalize our choices. He's had good recommendations.

I know that you didn't mention him but I wanted to recommend DJ Dave Lynch.  He was very reasonably priced and had a ton of experience. I believe we paid just over $800 but I don't remember an exact. We loved the guy, he was a lot of fun and very personable and down to earth! GL

I've heard of Dave Lynch. Is he out of his own company or with one of these? Do you remember how long you had him for? I believe we'd need him for 6 hours since our reception runs from 5-11. But our first hour is cocktail and hors d'oeuvres. Do we need one for that hour or no?

Dave Lynch used to work for a well known company many years ago and since then he has decided to go out on his own (my opinion is it's great because you work with just him and there is no run around). Dave provided service from our cocktail hour which began at 6pm and went to 11pm when our reception ended. I recommend having a DJ playing soft music for cocktail hour so that it softens the sound of chatter. :)

We used Steve Ossinger from Main Event and he was great. He cost 1450 for 6 hours. We told him we didn't want any props and we didn't want YMCA or any of those type songs. He listened to us and without any props he kept people out on the dance floor all night. All of our guests told us they thought he was a great dj. We were very impressed.

Thanks everyone! FI is going to start calling around after work today and I thought I'd help by giving him some names to ask after.

i need to second dave lynch! he just did our wedding reception, and any time the floor started to get a little thin, he would switch up the songs and was very interactive! he will give you whatever reception you want -- we wanted very playful, and he brought a ton of props and it was hilarious having my 92 year old grandmother leading the congo line with her walker! he was around $850 for 5 hours, but can charge by the hour if need be... good luck!

I used DJ Joe O'Leary from A Goodtime DJ. I think he was a little over $800 for 5 hours. He was amazing and definitely made the reception a huge party. I had a lot of compliments from guests about him.we also looked into the other companies you mentioned. I think you'll find a lot of recs for them on here. I know other knotties have used Kibar from A Main Event and have raved about him too.GL!

Those djs mentioned above get lots of plugs on here, so I'm thinking that they must be booked by now. I'm thinking...Hmmm...a few exceptional DJs I've seen come to mind; Joe Toto at Groove Entertainment out of Boston (expensive but great!) DJs By Request - www.djsbyrequest.biz Pete Chambers - www.petechambers.com Nu Image (don't know website link)
