Wedding Invitations & Paper

Can we put a request in our invitations?

Hello, my father is very sick, and the doctors seem to feel there is not much time.  As a result, my fiancé and I have decided to host our wedding in 3 weeks, (we were originally planning for November but have not sent save the dates).  Unfortunately, my father cannot be around anyone who is sick.   Is it fair to include a note with invitations asking that if someone is sick, even with a slight cold, cough, or nose drip, please do not attend in person?  If not, is there an appropriate way to communicate this to guests?  Thank you for your help with this matter!

Re: Can we put a request in our invitations?

  • Sorry to hear about your dad.  I'd probably leave it off the invitation, and spread the request by word of mouth.  I'm just thinking that most people who are sick probably are going to stay home anyways, and that if you add that request in your invite without an explanation people are going to be a little confused/unsure of the reason, which I am assuming you also don't want to include in the invite.

  • Thank you ladies for your advice and kind words!  We will be hosting a very small wedding, so spreading through word of month is definitely feasible, we will be sure to go that route.  I also like the idea of face masks, that never occured to me, and would serve as a precaution if someone did happen to have a cough, etc. that day.  Thank you everyone!
