Dress Grass Stains

I was planning on not using an aisle runner for our outdoor ceremony. My aunt, who is doing my alterations mentioned getting grass stains on my dress. So now of course, my mother is freaking out about it and insists there should be an aisle runner. The longest amount of time it will be on the grass is when I walk down the aisle. Our ceremony is at 3:30, so the grass should be dry. I am not worried about it. Has anyone delt with this before?

Re: Dress Grass Stains

  • I plan on having an aisle runner, but it had never crossed my mind about the grass stains....... Is your dress super heavy? I don't think grass stains would be an issue if you are just gonna walk down the aisle.....it's not like you will be rolling around on it....Also, if it does stain, it should be on the underside of the dress, so nobody should see it....and besides you are only wearing the dress once, so if it gets a stain on the bottom, it won't matter....just my opinion, hope this helps
  • I think unless your sliding into the alter you will be ok :)

  • Seriously do not bother to worry about this.  Your dress will get things like mud & grass on it...and maybe some of Gramma's champagne.  Drycleaners can probably get it out.  Even if they can't, realistically the dress will probably never be worn again...

  • We didn't get married in the grass, but we did do a lot of pictures and walking around in the grass.  I didn't notice any grass stains on my dress at all.  The only way you could get grass stains is if you are pushing down really hard on your dress in the grass - like a kid who gets grass stains on his knees.  It's just not likely.  Besides, who cares?  It's not like you're ever going to wear the dress again.

  • I'm in the same situation as you are. I'm not using an aisle runner, because they aren't very durable, and often bunch and tear and trip people. Instead, I am simply walking down a grass aisle. My train is 4 feet long, and I think the other ladies are right - unless it's weighted down, I doubt it will stain. Good luck! I'm sure it'll go really well!

  • I agree with Jalara48 ... I was researching an aisle runner for my outdoor wedding and read a few too many stories of people tripping on it so I've opted out of it myself.
