Night of Hotel Stay

Hello there!I'm staying at the Avalon Hotel and Spa the night of our wedding, and I really, really, really want an upgraded room.  I have heard some ladies say that when they mentioned their wedding, the hotel automatically upgraded their room or offered a bottle of champagne or something fun.  I know this is probably tacky of me to ask for something for free, but I just thought it would be so special for my FI to come into the room and see a more beautiful room than we booked.  We are currently in a riverview King, which is lovely, but it would be awesome to get into a suite! What did everyone say when they checked into their hotel that made them react by upgrading or offering some fun amenities?

Showing up in a big white gown will probably help : )Really, that's probably the best indicator you can give them. Otherwise, I did ours online so put in a note about it being for our wedding. Fingers crossed.

We had our Night Of at the Benson, and when I was booking the reservation I just mentioned that it was our wedding night and we got upgraded to a penthouse suite. But if you've already made the reservation, maybe call the week before and just say you're confirming your reservation for your wedding night or honeymoon or something, and especially with the way the economy is there aren't a lot of suites booking up, so if they don't have it booked yet maybe they'll bump you. Good luck! And no matter what, it will be wonderful!

Thank you so much, ladies!  The thing i'm most concerned with that I forgot to mention is that I am staying here the night before the wedding (with one f my bridesmaids), all of the girls are getting ready for the wedding in the hotel room with me, and then it will be the room FI and I stay in the night of our wedding.  I just thought it would be nice to have a beautiful room to get ready in so that our photographer could take pictures of all of us!I wonder if they would still upgrade...  I am going to call this weekend to confirm my wedding night room and see what they say!  I'll let you know, and thank you so much for the awesome advice!

Zentopia there's definitely still hope! Thats exactly what I did; I booked the room for 2 nights, and told them the second night was for my wedding night, and they still upgraded it for both nights. We had the photographer come and do all the getting ready pictures and everything, and it turned out really well. Good luck!!

Just a little note... You might want to be careful about the Avalon Hotel and Spa. I used to be a member there and a friend of mine taught Pilates classes there up until recently. Apparently they have bounced the past 5-6 pay cheques to their employees. I'm sure that this could not affect you negatively, but I would hate to support a business that is "stiffing" their employees.
