Who walks mother of groom down?

So our wedding is this Saturday and FI hits me with a comment about him walking his mother down the aisle....We have ushers and plan to do Ave Maria for the mother's song during this church ceremony.Is it "appropriate" for him to walk her down or does the usher do this?  I always thought he stayed waiting up front while the usher escort the mother and father of groom trails behind.  I need some advice from you girls! TIA!

    I've always seen the groom walk in with his mother after the groomsmen process in. Then an usher brings in the brides mother. Then the bridesmaids. I think it's sweeter that way. A mother is giving away her son just as much as a father is his daughter. If it's meaningful to your FI and his mom, I say let him do it.

    I've usually seen it where the groom escorts both his mom and dad down together. This what we're doing. My uncle will escort my mom down.  I've only seen it a few times where the groom hasn't escorted his parents.

    I've never seen a groom walk his mom down.  That said, FI is walking his mom down.  I thought that it would be a beautiful gesture.

    We haven't sorted this one out yet. FI's Mom passed away almost ten years ago; I have a feeling he'll walk down solo.

    Sure, it's appropriate. It's your wedding, and you can do whatever you wish. If your FI wants to walk his mother down, then why not?

    FI's (oops DH's) brother walked his mom down and my brother walked my mom down

    It's your wedding, you can do whatever you want! :)My Fi wants to walk down his grandma/my grandma and then his mom and dad will be walking down together. We haven't decided who will walk my mom down.

    Ok thanks for some ideas ladies.  I think I would like him to if he is adament about it but I just couldn't remember if I had seen it ever.
