Jim hjelm sizes question...

Brides who ordered Jim Hjelm for their bridesmaids, we're the sizes true to measurments? One of my BM is inbetween 3 sizes and there is NO way she is the biggest of the three sizes., I'm not just trying to smooth her ego... it just seems to be waaaay to big for me to order for her.how did your BM do with measurments and the actual size of the Jim Hjelm dress? I posted this on the 'wedding party' board as well.

As with a lot of things in the bridal world....I found they ran small. For my brother and SIL's wedding we wore a Jim Hjlem dress and I had to order 2...maybe even 3 sizes up from my normal street size. When it came it, I thought it would be huge. It really only needed minor alterations in the length and bust. Always better to go bigger than smaller. What does your friend want to do???

I have a Jim Hjelm Wedding Dress and I was between 3 sizes.  My dress is a modified trumpet and my largest measurement is by hips so I ordered the largest size out of the three and had the waist taken in.  I would say the measurements are pretty on par with what is listed.  I had maybe 1/2 inch wiggle room in the hips.  That being said when I was a bridesmaid we were wearing an strapless A-line dress so I went with the middle measurement (which was my bust)  and that dress fit fine since the design was more forgiving in the hip area.  I really think it will depend on the cut of the dress, and how her measurements shape out... ie: if bust is the largest I wouldn't order smaller.

I ordered dresses on-line so I sent all the girls the measurement chart and told them to measure themselves and tell me the size they were.  There was only one that I questioned and I ended up just ordering her the next size bigger (she wanted to order a 2, b/c that's what size she "normally" is") and telling her that I made a mistake, but that she could have it taken in . . . it ended up fitting perfectly . . . I would go with your gut.

My BMs got Jim Hjelm dresses and those dresses run REALLY small. My best friend is usually a size 2 and she had to order a 6 in her BM dress, which we all thought she would have to get taken in when it arrived. She DIDN'T need it taken in and it actually was almost was too small!Go big with Jim Hjelm!
