Need to find Outdoor location for Ceremony&Reception

My Fiance and I have decided that we're going to have the wedding in somewhere in the surrounding area of Portland/Vancouver. The catch is that neither of us live there currently so finding a location, among other things, is going to be tough. Luckily I have a load of family in the area so I can send them out to do recon. What I want ideally is to get married under the trees. The place would have a pavilion or shelter in case of rain and not be overly contrified. If you have any suggestions I would really appreciate any direction you could provide because as of now I'm flying blind.

How many guests do you expect to have?  You might look into Hoyt Arboretum, it's beautiful and they have covered outdoor shelters in case of rain.http://www.hoytarboretum.org/rentals/document.2006-05-29.8153262476You could also check out Leach Botanical Garden; that's where we were married and there is an indoor option but it's a bit more limiting since it can only accommodate up to I think 75 people indoors.  Pics in my bio and details on their site:http://www.leachgarden.org/pages/rentals.phpThere are a ton of outdoor/treed venues in the area, but not many of them will have a built-in pavillion for the rain option.  You can always rent tents if needed, but generally, in Oregon, in the summer, you're pretty darn safe with a July/August weekend being dry & pretty.

I'd check out Overlook House. Not expensive and you can use the house if it rains. Jenkins Estate is gorgeous and they have a treed section for the ceremony, but the reception would be indoors. By countrified do you mean country decor or just out in the country? If it's okay being out in the country I would try Kruger Farms on Sauvie and Settlemier House in Woodburn.

"The meek shall inherit the earth" isn't about children. It's about deer. We're all going to get messed the fuckup by a bunch of cloned super-deer.- samfish2bcrab

Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman

Thank you, thank you for the suggestion of Leach Botanical Garden's. I sent my aunt to check it out and it looks lovely. My only worry is if we can keep the guest list small enough for it's 70 person limit. Re: contrified By contrified I meant wagon wheels, bales of hay, etc. I don't mind being in the country, really! I just want it to be classy not corny.

If you need a bit more space, check out the McMenamin's properies.  They are very northwesty.  We got married under the trees at McMenamins Cornelius Pass Roadhouse in Hillsboro, and held our reception in the historic barn.  Not countrified at all.http://www.mcmenamins.com/index.php?loc=13&category=Location%20Homepage
