I think we ended up looking at 4 total venues. It was indeed love at first sight. We chose the Croatian American Cultural Center because it had everything we wanted (i.e. outdoor ceremony, beautiful setting, fabulous bar area, and beautiful reception facility). The BYOB was an added bonus.

We looked at 4 venues, but tons more online. We were constrained in attempting to find a historical venue that could do the ceremony and reception inside.-Cliff house in SF, beautiful, but couldn't actually do both inside with our numbers-nestledown in los gatos, gorgeous, but it would rain because its me-berkeley city club, almost picked, parking was a pain-los gatos opera house- the one we selected

I researched lots of reception venues online, but we only toured one - and it was love at first site! We chose Terra Art Gallery because of how well it fits our style. We loved the lounge area with sofas and we loved the large hardwood loft-like space for the reception with modern art.

We looked at at least 13 before we booked our venue (#14)... I feel like I'm missing at least one or two venues. We went a lot of places!!!Hollins HouseAdventures by the SeaBayonet & Black Horse Golf CourseCrystal Springs Golf CourseRound Hill Pines (Tahoe)ShadowbrookSanta Cruz Veterans HallCocoanut GroveCliff HouseMurietta's WellSunol Valley Golf ClubAptos Village ParkPalmdale EstatesI'm not sure that it was love at first sight because I loved a few other sites that had huge deal breakers for me... so but the time we got around to booking this site I was a bit skeptical of my first impression.I definitely thought it was gorgeous! I was set back by the weird room layout but I loved the hills and the look of the building. We booked the Eagle Ridge Golf Course. I loved the packages/pricing, the awesome reviews, and the venue coordinator (although she no longer works there). My parents loved it so much they offered to pay for most of it! The view is awesome too. The windows in the ballroom are HUGE and overlook the golf course and hills.

3 venues and the last was love at first site. The first 2 were wineries. One place was in Los Gatos and it was too small. It was also very steep and narrow to get to. The 2nd place was in Morgan Hill and that place smelled like cow. I researched tons online though.

We looked at several online, but only saw two in person.  We went investigating the weekend after we got engaged and did not even have appointments at either place.  We just walked around and gave ourselves our own tour.  (All while family thought we were house hunting.  Haha.)  It had everything we wanted, including being able to bring our own alcohol.  I don't know if it was love at first sight, but we knew it was perfect.  And with a 6-month timeline, we jumped on it.  Plus it was well under what we had budgeted for the venue (meaning we could splurge on photography and other things.)   Farm on Putah Creek - We love that it is laid-back.  We can party as loud as we want and no one will hear us.  We also love that it is kid friendly.  I love that it is an educational non-profit and outside of the normal wedding industry.

Ugh... I'm indecisive! Thank goodness our venue package came with a florist, baker, caterer, & dj or I would have spent the last 6 months marathon interviewing vendors!!!We had very specific requirements - fit on the low end of our budget, include chairs/tables/linens, offer a full bar, be pretty enough to make me love the place, easy close drive to hotels... the hardest one was finding that plus a venue that would allow us to start the ceremony right at 5:00pm.Loanb - We loved the Palmdale Estates too! It just wasn't exactly what we were looking for and being from Fremont I've been to one too many weddings there.

How many venues did you look at before settling on a place? about 200 online but this was the first in person.was it love at first sight? absolutelyWhat venue did you choose and what do you love most about it?  Half Moon Bay Golf Links- we get an ocean view (my want), a golf course (FI's want), great food and a not far location for our guests all for a reasonable amount.

In person, we looked at 3 venues I think...but I looked at like 20 more online on herecomestheguide. After looking at my venue online, I pretty much knew that I would book there because it was close to what we wanted in a price range we could afford...I just needed to see it in person to double check everything! We booked Eagle Ridge Golf Club...the room is laid out wierd like Jackelbride said, but I love the views and the ceremony area...and the all inclusive price and packages can't be beat!

We actually toured about 10... We called a lot more than the 10 to try get more info and maybe set up tours but some places that probably would have been front runners didn't even call us back .. some called back - but months or in one case year! later. Then we went back with the first place we looked at because I loved the rose garden - which they ripped up 6 months later for no reason other than they just wanted to put a lawn there. :-/ Grr. We almost chose another venue, but chose ours because it was 1. closer to home and 2. more private than the others (or at least thats what we thought)

We looked at soooo many online - lots of e-mails went out and it started from there.  We visited Hayes Mansion, Testarossa Winery, Toll House Hotel, Hotel Los Gatos, Los Gatos Opera House, Mountain Winery, Clos La Chance Winery, The Ranch Golf Club, Silver Creek Country Club and Cinnabar Hills Golf Club.I had really fallen for the idea of a ceremony and reception in one location so that cut out a few potentials.  I had my heart set on The Ranch Golf Club but it was booked for the date we wanted.  There was another golf course I had heard of (Cinnabar) but didn't see anything great on the website.  We swung by there on a whim after our meeting at The Ranch, the event coordinator happened to be available, showed us some great options and we booked that night! It's open and simple which gave us great range to make it look how we wanted and the staff is absolutely fantastic!

We looked at literally hundreds online and then we actually visited about 40-50 (we are indecisive, can you tell?) throughout Northern California, from Tahoe to Sonoma to Sac to SF. We finally settled on the Westin St Francis in SF because even though it was a bit over our price range, it was the ONLY place both of us actually liked and we weren't about to go look at 40 more places! No way!

We looked at tons online at Here Comes the Guide and visited:1. Cinnabar Golf Course - Gorgeous views great coordinator but I wasn't crazy about the golf cases in the main dining room and too far of a drive from the ceremony.2. The Villages Golf and Country Club - Felt too far from the ceremony as well and not impressive.  Just ok.3. Saratoga Country Club - Beautiful views.  This was one of the two finalists but not much is included in the package.  It was only for 4 hours, drinks by consumption only, and short ivory table linens so I'd need to rent some.  4. Villa Ragusa - This was the one.  I do love the location and the mahogony bar in the ballroom we're using.  It was more a process of elimination between what we could afford and the proximity to the ceremony...this was just the perfect choice for us.  It also has a great package including small centerpieces and a great coordinator.  I can't wait to deck it out!Our budget busters we liked were the Dolce Hayes Mansion and the Silicon Valley Capital Club.

researched many but only did a walk through with one, and YES love at first sight! We chose the La Playa in Naples FL. We loved the pool/ patio where the reception will be at. Also it's only a two minute walk down the beach from our condo, thats where the ceremony will be held.

How many venues did you look at before settling on a place? Too many to count. We started our search out at Fort Bragg, then decided to move it closer to home. was it love at first sight? Absolutely, FI and I both loved it. What venue did you choose and what do you love most about it? We picked the Santa Rosa Golf & Country Club. I love the atmosphere of the club - and the fact that both ceremony & reception can be held on site.
