Fallin

We ended up getting the Hilton Garden Inn on E Grand Ave for $75/night. Location looks good, we're hoping it's decent. Hilton properties are usually trustworthy. Thanks for the help this morning.

Re: Fallin

  • I think that sounds good.  Is that different from where you stayed for work or the same?   I've stayed in a number of Graden Inns and always been pleased.

  • At first, I thought it was the same, and was thinking what a huge coincidence it was that it was the same hotel that ended up accepting our bid. But I e-mailed my old boss to ask him where we had stayed, and it ended up being somewhere different. I confused myself. Where we stayed for work was actually the Sheraton on Water Street. I remembered it being really nice--I should have known it was a Sheraton!Anyway, we don't spend a lot of time in our hotels when we're away, so as long as it's clean and location is good, we'll be happy.
  • I HIGHLY recommend the Chicago Architecture Foundation's Architecture Boat Cruise.

  • Yes! I've heard great things about it. It's on my must-do list. Do you think we need to book ahead, or OK to book once we get there?
  • I think it launches every couple of hours so you're probably fine.  If you are going on a Saturday or need a specific time, you may want to book ahead.

  • Heather - I have stayed many times at the HGI on Grand while in Chicago.  It is a great property, and I have never been disappointed.  The location is perfect too.
  • Thanks, Fallin. I'll look into it a bit more. We might be going on a Saturday, so may be worth booking in advance.Rajah... great to hear, thanks!
