We ended up getting the Hilton Garden Inn on E Grand Ave for $75/night. Location looks good, we're hoping it's decent. Hilton properties are usually trustworthy. Thanks for the help this morning.

    I think that sounds good.  Is that different from where you stayed for work or the same?   I've stayed in a number of Graden Inns and always been pleased.

    At first, I thought it was the same, and was thinking what a huge coincidence it was that it was the same hotel that ended up accepting our bid. But I e-mailed my old boss to ask him where we had stayed, and it ended up being somewhere different. I confused myself. Where we stayed for work was actually the Sheraton on Water Street. I remembered it being really nice--I should have known it was a Sheraton!Anyway, we don't spend a lot of time in our hotels when we're away, so as long as it's clean and location is good, we'll be happy.

    Yes! I've heard great things about it. It's on my must-do list. Do you think we need to book ahead, or OK to book once we get there?

    I think it launches every couple of hours so you're probably fine.  If you are going on a Saturday or need a specific time, you may want to book ahead.

    Heather - I have stayed many times at the HGI on Grand while in Chicago.  It is a great property, and I have never been disappointed.  The location is perfect too.
