Bridal shop recommendations needed

I will be in Kansas City in September to do some wedding planning things (and visit family), and I hope to start the dress search while I'm there. I was wondering what bridal shops you all would recommend, particularly based on stock (I am considering buying the dress itself online after I figure out which one I want, so that kind of service isn't the biggest deal to me). I already know I want to try on some Watters dresses, and it appears that Nolte Bridal is the only shop that carries the full line. Any other recommendations? Thanks!

I went with Bridal Extraordinare... Love them. They used to be Evening Extraordinare when I was in high school, we went looking for prom dresses there. When we left we  were all talking about the great service there.... Highschool girls.... shopping for prom dresses... left talking about great service. I remember being wowed, and thats what brought me back for my wedding. Everything went great. Bought the sample dress off the rack, so I got discount on that and on some other things. Service is still great. I love thier selection. They have a little bit of everything. There was a small miscommunitcation about when my veil would arrive (it was no big deal just a little confused) I was able to get ahold of the owner Vicki in no time. Same day call back. We worked it all out. She is very flexable and super nice. I would reccomend them to anyone and everyone.

I second Bridal Extrordinaire. Stay away from Wedded Bliss they have about 10 dresses total. I also like Mia's Bridal. They let you look at all their stock and were very organized. I also recommend having appointments at all of these as you get their full attention no matter how busy they are. Good luck!

They are very accommodating and you have your own private room and personal attendant ! I would highly recommend them.I got my dress at The Elegant Bride, also very nice and good place to look. They are up north off 291 hwy in liberty mo. Good luck!

I've heard great things about Bridal Extradoinare and I've had friends swear by Ida's Custom Veils in Overland Park. It might also depend on what designers you like, I got my dress at Gown Gallery b/c it was the only store (near me) that carried the designer I had my heart set on.  I really liked working with Gwen and if I order my bm dresses and tux there I get 10% off everything.  They are transitioning to a new location right now, so the location is a bit make-shift.  It is at 75th and Wornall. Good Luck!

I got my dress at Ida's Custom Veils in Overland Park and HIGHLY recommend them.  They are super helpful and knowledgeable!I also tried on dresses at Bridal Extraordinaire and we ended up getting our BM dresses from there.  I really liked them a lot too, they just didn't have "the" dress for me.

I wanted to post an update regarding Wedded Bliss.  They have way more dresses than PP said.  I was in there last week for a fitting, and they have a bunch of new dresses in.  She also told me they had just ordered samples of about 25 more dresses that were all under $2,500.  They are by appointment only, but the store owner (Mary) is really, really good at what she does. Anyway, just wanted you all to know in case anyone was still looking for bridal shops.

I love Wedded Bliss also - I was putting them down by any means - that is where I bought my dress! I just found that they didn't have as much selection as other places which is what the PP said they were looking for. And yes Mary is wonderful.

Mary at Wedded Bliss is amazing (and Mary used to be the top seamstress in KC, so I've heard nothing but the best about the alterations from there). I bought my dress from Laura's Couture. I worked directly with Laura (like Wedded Bliss, it is by appointment only) and had a fabulous experience. We also ordered my veil, hair accessory and BM dresses from there. She also has a jewelry store and paper store connected for more of a high-end one-stop bridal solution.

I got my dress from Ida's Custom Veils also. They were super helpful and accommodating, and had a very large selection. So much so that I had a really hard time deciding between 2 dresses! I ordered my dress way in advance expecting it to come in 6 months, and it came in 3. I just went in for my first fitting and it fit absolutely perfectly! All the ladies there are wonderful. They also have a really nice selection of MOB and BM dresses! I would definitely recommend checking it out!
