Registry Advice

Ok, so I know most people find registering for gifts to be the easy part of the wedding planning but that is the only part I can’t get down.  I have no idea what I would need or want aside from the basics.  My future husband and I have been together for 8 ½ years and college has supplied be with many basics.  We are very casual and I am anticipating that in the future we will need many things which I can’t anticipate at 25 years old.  Pleas offer Suggestions!!!

Re: Registry Advice

  • Register for upgrades of what you have now.  Nice sheets that you'd never buy for yourself.  Nice, plush towels.  That ridiculous stand mixer you'd never spend $300 on but have been coveting.  Keep your registry small if you'd like, and people will give you gift cards and cash. Also, I enjoy your SN.

  • I would walk around the stores where you want to register before registering (with your fiance) to get an idea of what they have and what you might like. Actually going and looking may spark some interest in things.

  • Also, keep a mental note of when you guys are out somewhere, or see a commercial on tv, and think "that's cool and useful, too bad we're saving for a wedding and can't buy it right now."  Bingo.

  • Upgrades of college stuff. I had crap stuff, sheets, towels, cooking stuff , etc. Nice kitchen stuff, kitchen aid mixer if you cook, good vacuum. Serving stuff.
  • We have pots, but they're old and rusting, so we registered for new cookware. Same with baking sheets - now ucky, same with silverware - tarnishing. So we've registered for upgrades of all of that. Fi hates our drinking glasses, so we registered for new ones. I personally think you can never have too many towels or sets of sheets, so we registered for more of those. You could always register for a lot of home decor. I love decorating and I love changing the look of our apartment up on occasion, so we registered for a lot of vases, etc. You could register for cookbooks, you can never have too many recipes. You could also register for board games, I think that's really fun. You can register for stuff that you might not otherwise think to buy, like a pineapple corer/peeler. My fi really likes pineapple, but if we weren't in the store registering, we never would have thought to get one for ourselves. Hope that gives you some ideas.
  • I now want a new SN, Vygotsky. Oh, Freud, yeah, Freud.
  •  Nooooooooooooooo not Freud! haha
