HELP! Something special...??

HI ladies.I need your help.I want to do something special. I mean, really special...for my fiance at our wedding!!My ORIGINAL thought was to have the Miami Dolphins cheerleaders announce us in (as the hubby & wife) - BUT - alas, they don't do private events anymore.I tried the Miami Heat cheerleaders and they wanted $1800 - blah.HELP - I want to surprise him in a major way. My last thought was to have wings brought in as a snack (he loves wings) but that's semi weird...hahaha. I also thought of doing milk & cookies (he loves this as well) as a midnight snack.While these ideas are cute..they're lame. HELP!!

    Okay I'm a little lame too, but it would be cute to have a cookie bar, and maybe call it a midnight snack or something.

    Are you doing a grooms cake? Is that not special enough? I have gone back and forth on this one as well, so I'll be watching this thread. Sorry I couldnt be of more help!

    TTC since May 2011 "Natural" BFP 1/2/2012 with cp 1/5/2012 5/2012: SA and CD 3 bloodwork perfect 6/2012: Clomid + Trigger + TI = BFN 8/2012: HSG all clear. Clomid TI cycle canceled due to thin lining 9/2012: Lap and Hysteroscopy: mild endo, uterine fibroids and septum, and ovarian cyst all removed

    I was going to suggest an awesome groom's cake, too. I was surprised at how much Matt loved his! Could you get an announcer from the Heat or Dolphins record an intro? Instead of having them in person you just play the recording! It could be more cost effective and just as cool.

    Thanks for the help ladies!!! I'm doing a groom's cake for the rehearsal dinner - Josh's nickname was "Box" in college (he was called lunchbox because of Jay & Silent Bob, turned into Box) - anywho, I'm having a cake created to look like a Box, lol.Danielle - that idea may work!!! That could be cool. I wonder if they would do that? I'm thinking of doing the milk & cookies idea...that would be so fun & yummy. I wonder how expensive that could be?

    it wasn't at ALL! and it was EXACTLY the same as the design i gave them, right down to the tiniest detail. some bakeries have a minimum of $250-300 so make sure you ask. thankfully mine didn't. :)

    Court, I lack seriously in creativity with this kind of thing but I'm going to try and brainstorm some ideas for you. In the meantime... I would say the ideas from the girls above sound like great ones!

    haha having the marlins guys would be hilarious! I love the milk and cookies/midnight snack idea! It probably wouldn't be very expensive at all, as long as your reception venue allows you to bring in outside food, that you made yourself. If you go to costco, you could get all the ingredients for whatever cookie recipes you choose in bulk, and then have a big baking party with your friends (and some wine, of course!). I'm sure that you could even package them in something as cheap as saran wrap, if you wanted! I saw a really cute picture on the knot of someone who wrapped cookies in saran wrap then put a cute round label on it

    I tried to do the dolphin cheerleader thing too!! I was bummed when I got the email that they dont do private events. But I like the wing idea. **What about a band, like a school band annoucing you guys?

    I'm going to email Letty about the milk & cookie idea... that could be so fun!! SO funny you said about the school band!! that was FI's first idea!!! We looked into it but decided that to have an entire school band come in for one song wouldn't be doable.. You girls are the best!

    i don't think the milk and cookies idea is lame at aaaalll, it's a cute idea, i'd go w/ that. fresh cookies and like alissa said maybe little 'milk chugs' or little personalized milk cartons w/ straws would be adorable.i attended a wedding where they had pastelitos and croquetas in little boxes (and an espresso station) as a midnight snack and man did it hit the spot after a long night of partying at dancing =) good luck!

    I read your comment how Josh's nickname and I basically only knew him as Box in college but had no idea where it came from.   Anyways,  this is probably just as hard to do since its like a 3 1/2 to 4 hour distance but maybe you could get Knightro or Glycerine for your entrance or cocktail hour. Or what about something kappa sig related?

    Citytoshore-  That is a great idea about just having a recorded intro.  My FI is a true NY Giants fan and that would be awesome.

    I was going to say what about having Burnie come? DJ Irie (who is the dj) is a very famous guy so he is going to be mucho expensive. My step-mom actually wanted him to do our wedding, I said don't even try. She didn't realize his status haha. You'll have better luck with a mascot. OOOOH, maybe get a few signs (that look like they were made for a sporting event) and have people hold them up while you walk in? Then have the song your team comes out to playing. Maybe have, is it UCF you went to? Maybe get knight stuff or the foam fingers and do that?

    hahaha Leah - I forgot you know him!!! I thought about doing Kappa Sig related (his fraternity) but he semi-hated it by the end so he wouldn't be too excited. BUTTTTTTT..... that would be AMAZING if I could get Knightro!!!!!!!!!! I'll have to look into that - good call on the UCF thing.. !!!!

    In keeping with your original idea, how about - using cheerleaders from a college? UCF might be kind of far for them to travel, but what about FIU or UM? The Sunsations dance team at UM does a lot of events. -for the high school band, what if you just did the drumline? The bands at Dillard, Ely, Miami Northwestern or Miami Central are really good and I'm sure wouldn't mind performing for next to nothing. HS Bands are always looking for fundraisers. Please share what you decide. I think this is so awesome!!!!

    Ahh reading this post made me love the cookie and milk chug idea all over again. I saw it on Letty's site when I hired her and wanted to do it. Right now we are doing mini media noche sandwhiches as a midnight snack, but I might have to switch. I LOVE the idea of the Miami Manatees guys coming in. My FI is a huuuge Marlins fan (as we are watching the game right now)---and the last game we went to I thought of having them at the reception somehow. Let me know if you find out anything regarding having them.
