Wow! How did I miss that?

The "list" post with 119 responses yesterday! That's what I get for going to lunch and signing off the knot! I was following along, left for lunch... and signed on this morning to find I missed all the good stuff! Had I been around, I would have chimed in with a few choice words. Apparently my expensive Boston wedding sucked because I bought my dress at Vow's. Thanks for letting me know!

Ugh Mrstoddo, you just disgusted me.  So tacky. As an FYI, I'm typing while eating a huge lobster tail for breakfast.  I think lobster for breakfast ranks as the #1 meat :)

hehe!! Doesn't that post just make you want to have your rehersal at McDonalds and send Rosey an invite?!

Money, I hope it wasn't leftovers... I can't imagine how she'd feel about that!

Good golly. Thanks for this post. I didn't realize that thread exploded like it did. Rosey is... quite a character.

I am absolutely beside myself with grief that I missed this yesterday.  I would have loved to participate!  I enjoy when people here start being totally honest and don't feel the need to be everyone's cheerleader.  Hooray for riled up local boards!

I missed the party yesterday too, clearly. Not to say that rosy got to me, because she didn't, but it does really make me think. What I love about the Boston board is that we are all clearly having/had different weddings at different budgets. I love that knotties who had more lavish weddings still get excited about my wedding, a decidedly more low budget affair. It is what I like here, and it really made me happy to see so many girls fly off the handle at her.And for the record, my wedding is that goddarned yard BBQ, complete with DIY flowers, favors, invites, and bocce (gasp). And you know what? I wouldnt have it any other way. My mom grew every one of those flowers this summer--every one--and she and I both crocheted each favor. My FI made those invites with me after work one night, and i f*cking love bocce. :-)

Spuccio - your wedding sounds like such a blast!  Bocce!  I'm totally jealous.  It reminds me of being home (midwest), and is making me feel a little homesick.  Your wedding will be incredibly memorable for all of your guests. I'm not convinced Rosey isn't just a troll.  But whatevs!  She makes things interesting.

spuccio......FI is a MEAN bocce player. The Irish guy fits right in with the Italian family :)

I think my biggest beef (haha - get it!? beef?!) with Rosy is the fact that she even comes to the Boston Knottie Board for advice. If she's so rich and well-to-do shouldn't she have some sort of wedding planner? The Knot always shows girls how to make a wedding their own with DIY projects and money-saving tips, and of course anything having to do with either is tacky and rude to the guests according to her. Needless to say, I'm going to be boycotting anything she says/asks on the board.

We got a bocce set from my FSIL for a shower present and my FI about died with excitement. Rock on!

Totally missed it, and I'm a little glad actually. I'm still a little tired from yesterday's tangle on the international boards. For anyone who's interested in seeing how I fared, I think it was "Making Guests Pay for Entry" on the Ceremony Ideas board. I'm always amazed at how petty, condescending, and juvenile some women can be and wonder what they feel they accomplish through such behavor. Obviously, they must derive some weird prsonal enjoyment from berating others, or they wouldn't do it.

I agree with sunshine on this - the whole point of theses boards is so that we can share tips with each other, including deals we got and projects we've made. We also share vendor recommendations that fit everyone's budget, high to low. I find it strange that someone would come on a board and criticize girls who are looking to share their well-earned advice when that is the reason the forum exists in the first place... It's so rare when the gloves come off on this board and can get almost frightening! I have to say that (gasp!) I actually feel a little sorry for Rosy - and I mean that in a totally sincere, non-snarky way. If she is a real bride, she's probably (like the rest of us) very excited like the rest of us and wants to talk about her wedding. And notice she keeps coming back? I think she might be a bit lonely... But, in the same respect, each board has it's own attitude or vibe - the karma she's sending off is probably better served on the national boards...

The wine was talking in my response to her last night, but I got seriously irked by her ignorance. How does where you get your dress or what you serve for dinner dictate the quality of a wedding? It doesn't. It's the witness of the love and commitment that two people share with their friends and family. Forget the fact that apparently planning a wedding means one's parents should be able to dig up 100K out of nowhere to throw the event of a lifetime. That just made me laugh. She might be lonely, or she might just think she and her wedding are the be all end all of class and etiquette. Who knows? spuccio, I freaking love bocce. I think your wedding sounds fun and fantastic and it is sure to be a memorable day for everyone who gets to witness it!

:-) Thanks girls. I think it will be a blast, too.Hapark, I am with you on this one--i am not convinced either that she isnt a troll. seems to me like she would know better?

Spuccio - I also wanted to add that I think your wedding looks like a blast! I love "personal" weddings - my FSIL got married on the beach and had the reception in her in-laws backyard. They had a big tent set up, friends did the catering. Her MIL has HUGE gardens and created unique centerpieces out of things from the beds - every table was different, and she also used antique lace table covers that had been in their family forever. It was the sweetest wedding I've ever been to. The whole thing maybe cost $5k? And that's including everything - dresses, rings, food, drink, everything. $5k might even be too high... Shazzie - she could just be that ignorant. I meet people with NO common sense on a daily basis it seems... :)

Oops - that should have gone to spuccio too, not Shaz - sorry!

I missed it too, but read allll the posts this AM.  Unbelievable!  All I have to say to "Rosey" is that, in the end, it's about the MARRIAGE and NOT about the wedding.  I could be scraping by paycheck to paycheck (oh wait...I do that already)...as long as I am with my FI and I have my family/friends, life is enjoyable.  The "best" day of your life does not have to be your wedding day either; I'm thinking that if I'm blessed to have children, seeing them for the first time will far surpass any of the wedding "hoop-lah" anyway!

darn!  has the post been removed?  I couldn't find it and I'd love to see what everyone's talking about.  Oh well, at least I know to be wary of Rosy.spuccio, bocce ball definitely sounds fun!

cazzy it is still there... yeah I think she is really lonely too, on the national boards she posts some stuff about how FI works a lot and is out 'playing' all weeken... who knows what that means mostly I think she is hilariously pitiful... i kind of wish you were there Mrs Toddo- it could have got realll interesting :)
