Beauty Advice/Opinions needed

Like many others, I have always dreamed about my wedding day, especially the details of how I would look (make-up, hair, dress, etc.). Over the years, my taste has changed; go figure! Recently, I have been quite inspired by looks reflecting a vintage bohemian style. My wedding is still a ways away, October 24, 2010, but any feedback is beyond helpful! Below are some of the things I am contemplating. Let me know what you think! Thanks! Your help is much appreciated!Hair:- Waves or loose curls- Mostly down, but partially pulled back is certain spots- One large flower in hairMake-up:- Earthy tones on eyes (browns, taupes, golds and/or sage greens) with dark brown-ish black mascara- Peachy or bronze color on cheeks- Nude lips with a pink tintDress:- Long, fitted sleeves- Deep V-neck- Empire waist- Long silhouette- Breatheable fabrics- Ivory or CreamShoes:- Leather flip flops or moccasinsJewelry:- Pearl earrings- Leather and pearl necklace/choker- Possibly turquoise pieces

  • Love the hair and makeup inspiration.  I've seen lots of pretty hairstyles like you describe.  I wish you luck on the dress - it's nearly impossible to find a dress that isn't the bridal gown uniform (read: strapless).  GAH! I'm also an October 2010 bride - if you haven't been to that board, check it out - all the girls are really sweet and helpful.

  • Thanks so much! It has definitely been hard finding dresses that I absolutely love. Because I'm not into the "cookie cutter" wedding dress styles, I plan to design my own dress through drawings and fabric choices, and have my cousin sew it all together. It's a cheaper alternative, as well!Best wishes to you!

  • I love the bohemian look you're ideas sound lovely! I'm getting married in 2 weeks and you just described my entire outfit piece by piece! I was looking for the same kind of shoes as you, but as stupid as it sounds i didn't want a flip flop noise i walked down the aisle! I finally found some indian type shoes (are they called kussas?) and they look awesome! almost like ballet pumps but completely beaded. Try eBay for some aesome vintage pieces - i got a 1950s beaded bridal purse for $20! x
  • BiancaR, it's very refreshing to hear about someone like myself, who isn't looking for the "cookie cutter" wedding! Thanks for the tips, and best wishes!
