NWR: In need of a good vet

So, I know this isn't wedding stuff but I've been dealing with the worst Vet EVER for the last couple years and I've finally had enough! Does anyone have any recommendations in the Harrisburg Area? I currently use Colonial Park Vet who also own the one in Mechanicsburg (silver spring vet) and one in Palmyra. They are awful, money grubbing and could care less about my baby adrian. I made a final appointment with them because I think Adrian may have gotten bit by something because she has been shaking and vomiting and limping I tried to get her in two days ago and they told me they didnt even have any emergency spots and the way they have always treated us has been awful and I really need to switch!

i use willow mill and i love them. its by the walmart in mechanicsburg. (you turn at the light across from AAA). they are very state of the art, not too expensive ( like $35 for an office visit i think), and they have several vets on staff so they always get us in. the other thing that i really love is that they ARE the emergency vet for the area. they have the emergency office open 24/7. ive had to take her there several times. while the emergency fee is expensive ($70 or $90) id pay that no matter what e-vet we went to. but if i go there, they already have her whole chart on hand unlike when you would normally go to an e-vet. theyre very nice to her unlike some vets. and they arent patronizing to me at all.  i highly recommend them.

We use Hershire Animal Hospital in Hummelstown....our pug recently almost needed surgery while we were on our honeymoon. They were absolutely fantastic.

I use Noah's out on 22. I was at Colonial Park Animal Hospital girl for a long time, but they are just awful and overpriced. I haven't been with Noah's long enough to really give you a good reference, but perhaps you want to look into them? They cleaned my dogs teeth and removed 8 of them and it was under $300.00, which I was expecting something like 500-600. So, I was happy with that.

K, That does sound reasonable. I Had two of adrians teeth pulled at Colonial Park and the bill was 200. FI took her in there yesterday and waited an hour and fifteen minutes after our original appointment time to even get seen. It doesn't matter if you have had your appointment set for one moth or just a day in that place you have to wait FOREVER because they overbook too much. Oh, And the vet said her problem was MENTAL sent him packing with a 70 dollar bill and a pat on the back. We are taking her somewhere else for a second opinion.

HAHA, Blynn! I know what you mean! That place sucks. My favorite experience:My dogs breath starting smellind really bad. I looked a his teeth and it looked like they were going to fall out. They were all loose and brownish. So, of course I took him in right away. The doctor just said "Yeah, that looks weird for a dog that's so young". I then asked, "what shoudl I do?" he said "Give him Greenies".OMFG, seriously? My dog has a major mouth issue where his teeth are brown, smelly and loose and you want me to just give him greenies? Because "Greenies" have a mgic powder inside them that make everything al better. What a moron. As soon as I took him to Noah's they diagnosed him and took him in two days later. Oh, and NO wait. I hate CPAH!

I'm not sure if this is the place you were talking about, but we take our cats to the Palmyra Animal clinic (E main street).  They're always very friendly there, and we've had no problems with them.

oohhh i used to go to colonial park as well and i thought it was awful!!! however interestingly enough... i now go to their silver spring location and you wouldn't even know they were owned by the same people... the service is different they talk to me more.. i was very close to scheduling my last appt as well and i switched locations to try and see if i didn't have to worry about transfer of medical records and i am so glad i did... if you want to give silver spring a try before you switch i would recommend it... they are my new favorites!!

I know this is late... but we use Derry Animal Hospital on Derry Street.  Dr. Shenk is wonderful!  One of my cats was really sick and instead of keeping him there he actually took him home with him at night.  He definitely does what's best for the animal.  HTH!
