sticker shock: chair and Linen rentals!

Hi ladies!  My wedding is coming up in October and arranging for rentals is one of the last things I need to do.  I've started calling around for pricing and I'm getting sticker shock!  It seems that when I looked into this earlier this year, the prices weren't so bad.  Maybe I'm having a case of wedding amnesia or something.  I need to rent white folding chairs (not the metal kind) for the ceremony and chair covers/sashes for the reception.  The prices are coming back around $3.00+ for the chair rentals and $3.50+ for the chair cover/sash rental.  Yikes!  Is everyone else getting similar quotes?  I've checked the vendor board and I have gotten quotes from most of those places already.  Can anyone give me insight on where I can find cheaper (but reliable) rentals??  Thanks!!

    From what I hear, that sounds like an average quote. Is there any way to skip the chair covers and sashes to save money?

    If you can just go with sashes, you can buy them online for $1 or less. I had to rent chairs for my ceremony, and they ran about $3/each (I think - contract is at home).

    Sounds about right to me. I'm not sure of cheaper options...sorry. Good luck!

    I think the white folding chairs alone are fine. I would not put a sash or chair cover on it. I think it would look better and you are saving money. If you wanted some color definitely only put a sash.

    I agree with J&K, if you are going to rent white folding chairs you don't need a cover. Or if you really like the look of covers, rent a metal chair, it's cheaper.

    Hi ladies!  Thanks for all of the suggestions.  I wasn't going to cover the rented chairs, those are for the ceremony outside.  The banquet chairs that we are using at the reception that are being provided by the venue aren't all that great and don't match our color scheme, so I was wanting to cover those.  I got about 4 quotes yesterday and I was able to negotiate a lower price with one, so I think I am going to go with that one.   Thanks again!!

    I have quotes of 1.50 - 1.80 for white metal folding chairs for my ceremony. I was getting quoted about that for chair covers/ sashes. I found a few places that would sell you the chair covers / sashes for 3.50.My email is Kornkitten at hotmail dot com if you want me to give the list of names I was looking into.
