How Many of Us Here Have a Caribbean Connection?

And if so, are you incorporating any of the culture be it food, music, etc. into your wedding?

I was born in the US but my Mom's side is from Jamaica and my Dad's side is from Trinidad.  My FH is Cajun/Creole born in Lousiana.

I plan on incorporating the music for sure plus food items from both the Caribbean and Cajun cultures.

I definitely plan on having Black Cake at the RD.

What are you guys doing (if anything)?

I was born in Antigua and lived there till I was 3 and a half. We are doing a hot sauce and rum that are made there as favors for guest. We are also going to mix in calypso and soca music at the reception. The rehearsal dinner will be all Caribbean food(FI born and raised in the south loves Caribbean food)

I was born in St. Kitts. FI's mom is Jamaican and his dad is Cuban. We are incorporting our culture in the music and the food. Rehearsal dinner will be all  West Indian food. Oh and we're having black cake for the wedding cake. Our overall decor is somewhat tropical.

Getting married in Jamaica.  Does that count?  Wait.  I have a distant cousin who has lived in Jamaica for over 20 years.  Closer?  Ok.  one more.  Um, I do have cousins that have moved to the Cayman Islands.  Better.  Sigh.  SMH.  Nope.  I am as Mississippi as they come.  As a matter of fact, we have census records that connect my family on both sides back to Africa.  No Caribbean connection.  But when I did eat meat, I loved me some curry goat!

We are both Jamaicans, born and raised there.  We will definitely be incorporating the food for our rehearsal, that was my FI's only request. We will also have the black cake.

I was born in the US, but my parents/family are from Grenada. We are going to have steel drums during cocktail hour, and definitely having a good soca/calypso set during the reception! Right now undecided on the black cake, as we're having cupcakes and a groomscake, lol!

I half Puerto Rican. We did a Salsa dance as part of our first dance. All of the tables were names of Carribean Countries, we flew to puerto rico and the took a 7 day cruise around to several carribean countries.  I wanted to maked sure the carribean was a big part of my wedding.

I'm half Puerto Rican also.  Since my dad is no longer alive, I was hoping to incorporate some of the music and dance because those were his favorites.  I'd like to include the food too but  guests will be 60% White from FI side and 40% AA raised in the South from my side so no use in doing that.. It would be too foreign to them I think. But I don't mean that in a bad way.

I'm American, but my FI's family is from Trinidad and all of his friends are Caribbean. We are getting married in the Dominican Republic and having a steel pan band during the cocktail hour and a Carribean meal for the RD.  We'll also play a mix of soca/calypso/dancehall/r&b.

I was born in US but my dad is from St. Kitts and my mom is from Belize.  We're incorporating music...my dance w/my dad will be to Precious by Mighty Sparrow (his favorite artist) among other soca and reggae tunes.  Since we're getting married in Louisville, I'm having a dj come from NYC (where I'm from).  FH and I are going to do our entrance to "Come to Meh" by Iwer George.  During the jump up at the reception, I'm going to be handing out bandannas to act as "flags" so people can "get something and wave".  It's going to be nice.  My mom was going to make a black cake but I don't know if she'll have time to do that anymore.  I may ask her to do it for our anniversary.
