Welcome! If you give some more details about what you want, we can probably give you better recommendations:* what area of the state are you looking in?* about how much money do you want to spend per person? What's your idea of "affordable"?* how many guests are you expecting?* are you willing to do a Friday or Sunday reception, and/or an off-season reception, to keep your budget down? Some places offer good discounts for off-season and non-Saturday night weddings, others don't.* Are you looking for a particular type of reception hall? Golf course, out of the ordinary place, standard reception hall? How important are the outside grounds to you (some places have a lot of photo locations, others don't)? Must it be all-inclusive or would you be willing to book a place where you need to bring in your own caterer? * Do you need a place that allows an on-site ceremony?* Do you need a place that has Kosher catering or something else special like that?

I went to a wedding there several years ago and NO ONE at my table ate their dinner. Enough said. I do remember the cocktail hour being good though. I went to look at it with a friend who got married 2 years before me and their pricing was very affordable, but the cocktail hour room and bathrooms are downstairs, and they don't have an elevator. Any guests who can't do stairs would have to go out the back and around the building.

Thanks!!!If you give some more details about what you want, we can probably give you better recommendations:I am looking for a venue in or around Morris County, since a majority of my guests are from that area. I am looking to spend no more then 110/person with all of the fees and taxes. There will be around 130 guests.I am looking for a Friday night in May/June/July area. I know this is peak season, but because I am a full-time student, its the only option I have! :) I'm not looking for anything particular, but I have run into a few venues with either beautiful outside locations, and no indoor opportunitines, or vise versa, like you mentioned! So i guess that is something I have to think about!!!I would like it to be all-inclusive and I would most likely be doing an on-site ceremony!Other then that...I am very open and flexible!!!Thanks so much!!!! :)

I saw below that you have been to events at Ravello and seemed to like them. Have you considered that as a venue? I had my wedding there and def have nothing but good things to say. LOVE them. Also, Tides Estate in North Haledon (I think) is close to morris cty and from what I know is a great budget friendly venue.

My reception's going to be at The Tides Estate (Passaic County). We're paying under $100pp for a Saturday night reception in April 2010. The downstairs room holds up to 160 guests and it's priced lower than the upstairs room. They have nice gardens in the back and gazebos for outdoor ceremonies. It's gotten good reviews on this board and other wedding websites. May-July was priced a bit higher, but you should save money with a Friday night. And even moreso if you wanted to do a 12-5 p.m. reception. I don't remember the exact pricing for evening weddings in that timeframe, but I think it was around what you want to pay. Plus we were able to negotiate a bit with the pricing, so you can always ask for the price to be lowered a bit.

My biggest problem with Flanders Valley was that the cocktail hour room was downstairs and the ballroom was upstairs, but there was no elevator. MH's 90 yr old grandmother would of had to be wheeled around the building through the grass to get to cocktail hour. And there are still like 4 or 5 steps to get into the room from the doors down there.

Thanks everyone!!! I will def check out Ravello's!!! How many guests did you have?! I was a little worried about being crowded for cocktail hour...but I don't think it would be too bad! The food was great!!! Also, did you get married on site, or off-premise?!Thanks again everyone!!! This is fun!!! :)

I had 140 guests. They open the cocktail room more if you have a lot of people.  I didn't have my ceremony there, but they do have beautiful grounds for it and if I recall correctly, there is no extra charge for it.

A friend of mine is doing Mayfair Farms next June & from what I saw of pics online it looks really pretty.  I'm pretty sure she's paying around 110 pp for a Friday night & she's doing an on-site ceremony.

I was considering Flanders Valley as well, but the more reviews I read the more I decided it wasn't worth it. Not many people had good things to say about it. But I've never been there so I can't say.I'm in the same boat as you with price, area, and time of year. I have information from the Hilton Garden Inn in Rockaway if you want it. I have the menu with all the prices and some additional information that was provided to me from the Director of Catering. They offer onsite ceremonies and the room (from pictures that I've seen) for the ceremony as well as the reception is beautiful. Prices are approx. $110 pp including taxes and gratuities for a Saturday night and he said it's approx. 10% cheaper for a Friday evening wedding. E-mail me @ xoxdioxox@yahoo.com if you'd like for me to send all the information from there your way as well as the contact information for the Director of Catering if you want to contact him directly as well. :-)

I think Ravello's is my front runner at this point, depending on the food tasting next week. We also looked at the Empire Club in Little Ferry. The prices  (Empire Club) are pretty reasonable and they just redid the facility, as they are uner new ownership. They seem to offer a lot of food, the cocktail room and reception room are pretty and they just put in a new dance floor. They are also putting a new entrance in sometime in January, with cobblestone and fountains. But it is definitely worth checking out..

My cousin's wedding was at Flanders Valley and from my un-engaged perspective at the time, it was very pretty and the food was really good. The maitre'd and waiters/waitresses were all very nice as well. Plus they had a nice sized dance floor :)
