NERVOUS

I've done well so far keeping my stress level down...until now.  I'm a little over a month out and I still haven't decided how I'm getting my dress to Vegas.  It is satin for the most part and I know it will get so wrinkled if I'm not careful.  I had originally planned on carrying it on, but picked it up from the bridal store last week and realized it is going to be too hard to carry.I'm leaning towards Fit for a Bride, but am worried about cost.  We've almost exhausted our wedding funds and I don't have hundreds to have my dress shipped/pressed/delivered.  To those of you who used Debi, what did your approx. cost some to TOTAL?  I'm flying AirTran from Philadelphia with a layover in Atlanta.  Any AirTran gals that have flown and carried on their dress??HELP? :(

Can you buy a little handheld compact steamer?  I've seen them at Wal-Mart for about $30, and they're not really that big, they'd probably fit in your luggage.  I'd buy one and try it out on your dress right away, so you can return it if it doesn't work properly.  That's probablly much cheaper than paying someone to press and deliver the dress.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

Is it too hard to carry because of weight or the size of the bag? I know several of the brides have used a box with handles to carry the dress on the plane just to make it easier to carry. Also, there are several other places on the Vegas FAQ that steam gowns. I know one is right on the strip, so you could drop it off and pick it up yourself and not have to pay delivery. For Debbi, you don't have to pay for delivery, you (or a BP member) can just get a taxi and pick it up to avoid the $30 delivery charge. I can pretty much guess that a taxi would be way less than that. It doesn't look like she charges extra for you to ship the dress to her, it's for the delivery. Her costs are on the website, but a little hard to find: BASE STEAMING COSTS Non-Couture Formal Gown —$70 Couture Formal Gown —$100 Regular Informal Gown —$50 Couture Informal Gown —$70

I feel your pain.  I came to the conclusion that my dress would  be too big to carry on, especially after chatting with a continental agent.  I will be shipping my dress to Debi this week, hopefully tomorrow.  I really hope not to spend more than $35 for shipping, but I have no idea really.I must admit, that I was toying with the spacebag idea that someone mentioned for a while, but could not find a big enough space bag.

i'm flying from philly to vegas on southwest.  i plan on putting the dress in the overhead compartment and when i get to vegas, i'm going to have fit for a bride pick it up from the hotel since i probably won't have time to take it there myself.  i'm sorry i can't be of much help since i'm not flying airtran.  i would hope that you could at least put it in the overhead bin if they don't have a place to hang it.

The money that you will pay Debi to have peace of mind and know your dress is taken care of is completely worth it.  I carried my dress on, and didn't worry one bit about it getting cramped or wrinkled because I knew I had it taken care of.She picked my dress up from the hotel and delivered it back there, and I paid $130.  It is money I didn't want to spend either, but in the end am so glad I did.

I think I'm leaning towards Fit for a Bride.  All the positive reviews of Debi make me a bit more calm.   I'm really leery about carrying my dress on with me, especially on AirTran (not a huge fan, but we had free round-trip tickets so we used them)  I had my dress out again tonight (a little excited!) and noticed how easily it wrinkles....I'll just cut the cash loss and have one less thing to worry about.  Thanks for all your help!  Philly girls.... I live in South Philly and love it!
