Not sure if it's a must if you're on a budgetI was also wondering if you can recommend a great photojournalistic/artsy photographer. I was about to hire my NYC photographer but decided I don't like the videographer she pairs up with and I might want to change altogether.

If you can fit video in your budget at all, I would go for it.  There is absolutely nothing like seeing and hearing your vows and family members on video.  I have family members that are no longer with us who are on my video and it is absolutely priceless IMO.  I don't have a videographer to recommend because ours was done by a friend who is a film producer. As for photography, I second Stephanie Sokol.  www.stephaniesokol.blogspot.com - We loved her.

I would definitely hire a videographer..I think its well worth it. For photography I recommend Studio By Carmen (but she's booked on 4.10.10 .hehe) or David Acuna..Acunaphotography.com

I love my video teaser so far and I think video is 100% worth it. It doesnt have to be flashy or $$, just a nice video of your day. Blueshore did my video. For photog there are sooooo many great options out there, but I am partial to Maloman. You can see my wedding picture slide show in my siggy.

If you can swing it I would. I didnt plan on it originally and after seeing them I went on this massive hunt for affordable videos. There are quite a few options under $1,000 and some under $800.

Millenia I'm on your same boat -- at this point I'm not sure if our budget will allow us to have a videographer. What I've been doing is blog stalking every day until one of them offers a contest for free or discounted services so you might want to try that. I can reccomend you my photographer Joseph Casal. Patty used him as well as her photos came out beautiful! Alot of other knotties have been using him for their wedding and epics and they came out really nice and he's REALLY well priced. Hope it helps GL!!! =)

Would you be willing to do an hour or two of video only so at least you get your ceremony on video? See if My Treasure, Blueshore, Reinheardt and whoever else is within that price range can do that for you and see what kind of numbers you get back. It's definitely a cheaper option. GL!

It wasnt an option for me to not have a videographer. As Courtney said, video and photos are the only thing you have after the day is over and sometimes video captures what photos cant. That being said, I think there are plenty of affordable videographers out there and even if you find someone you love, they will come down in price. I am using Lux Images for photos who have a photojournalistic feel and Blueshore after seeing Vicki's wedding trailer and speaking with Jeremy. I have to update my bio, but in the meantime you can check out both of their blogs.

Every person I know who didn't do a videographer always says how they regret it!If you are able to fit it in your budget, DO IT! It's a way to relive the day forever... and shows things that photos simply can't!!!

I didnt and I regret it. My sister actually videotaped most of the wedding. She sent the tape in the mail to me not knowing it would get erased and now I dont have anything:( If you can fit it in your budget I would go for it!
