Hair or makeup first?

I may be getting my makeup done at a different place than where I'm getting my hair done for the wedding-they don't do airbrush and I think thats what I want.Would you suggest getting my hair or makeup done first?  Time wise, I could do either I think.  I don't know if it matters or not.TIA

Re: Hair or makeup first?

  • i would do hair then makeup
  • Ditto.  Hair first then makeup
  • Hair first. Your makeup should be as fresh as possible for your photos.
  • My MOH is also my hairdresser and depending on your hairstyle, it is better to do makeup first.  If you have sweeping bangs these will get in the way of your makeup, and may have to be fixed. Your makeup artist should be able to give you makeup that will last all day and night.  I would however suggest washing and drying your hair prior to having the makeup done.If you don't bangs, your hair can be done first! :)
  • I'd suggest doing your hair first, then makeup. If you do makeup first, then you run the risk of getting hairspray or other hair products on your makeup and if you go to wash them off, then you'll also wash off your makeup. Another note to my fellow knottie brides: wear a button-up shirt to your hair & makeup appointments. This way, you won't risk damaging your hair or smudging your makeup when you take your shirt off, since you won't be pulling it over your head. :-)

  • The heat from irons/dryers/etc can make your make-up get funky so hair should go first.  They can clip your hair off of your face for the foundation and if your stylist uses enough hairspray nothing will get damaged!
  • My make up artist & hair stylist said I should do hair first so I dont get my hair products on my face. She said I wouldnt want hair spray on my forehead....LOL
