  I would avoid the back bay grill, we didn't have a good experience there... Street and Company is great, more seafood style menu-reservations are strongly reccomended Fore Street-One of the best restaurants in Portland, also reservations are needed, it has more of a french style to the menu Davids in Monument Square,-We've never had  bad meal there, love their drinks, food, everything about it!Hugos is great as well, I think they are an Italian Restaurant555 Congress, is awesome as well. I would strongly reccomend reservations, especially during the more touristy times of year. In South Portland over the bridge, is Salt Water Grille, which is also really good.

  I agree with everyone else's recommendations and also suggest The Grill Room. It's not cheap, but their steaks are pretty much incredible. My favorites would definitely be 555 or The Old Port Sea Grill.

  Only been to 555 once, but I LOVED it....I went like a year ago and I still think about how awesome it was!I haven't been to a lot of Portland restaurants, though, so I don't have much for comparison.I've heard good things about Cinque Terre too, but haven't been.
