Morning! Well today I have to finish some major projects at work. I have been somewhat in a self pity funk lows to cool thing highs there. The Lows: the law clerk who started with us the summer after I started working for my attorney has just finished law school/taking the bar. It is just a really depressing thought to me right now, and even more so that he may become another "boss". I know my time will come *some day* but right now it is just really sad for me to process. The Highs: Along with the expungement law change, there is now a provision for expungement of pardoned offenses. It used to be that if you get convicted of anything, you could get a pardon (official forgiveness from the State), which would basically restore some civil liberties (such as voting) if the offense was a felony. Well now, if you receive a pardon, you can request the charge to be wiped off your record so it's like it never even happened, giving people who have changed a real chance to move on as productive citizens. Well I wrote the petition and the state is not opposing, AND THAT'S FABULOUS as it is likely then that the Court will Grant the Petition. We do not know of any other NCC attorneys who have gotten one of these through, so it would be pretty cool to say I wrote the 1st. :)Saturday we are taking the new car on yet another road trip! Heading to Virginia for my sister's housewarming party. Unfortunately we will be the only representatives of our family since everyone else had end of summer plans (which is fine). But I am SUPER EXCITED to see my awesome nephew and that they are having a crab feast :D. I think my sister is anxious to give me a squeeze over the pregnancy. Apparently she is already itching to shop. LOLSunday is my SIL's birthday, so I have to get her a card. Mike doesn't want to get her anything since she didnt get him or I anything, but I told him that mentality is for a 10 year old. We're adults, and while I am not going to drop a ton of money on something, I think a modest gift card to one of her favorite food places (like DD) will be fine.  Steph: I am going to try to get to you on Sunday, it all depends on how SIL's Schedule is that day and the like. I will keep you in the loop via facebook. :) On a side, as I watch the news knotting v. getting ready for work, I am really annoyed that the Eagles signed Michael Vick. I know he did his time, and I am generally the 1st advocate for they paid their debt to society, but this guy is so fake. He hasn't reformed, and the only thing he is sorry about is that he got caught. So annoyed with the Eagles franchise right now.

Morrrrrrning!!!Let's see, today I am going to be making a ton of phone calls, setting up and confirming dates for events for our Youth Group.  We met with our pastor last night (until almost 11 pm) and put together the entire year for the YG- I am really excited, we have some pretty awesome things on the calendar, Like Sunday Breakfast Mission, Christina River Cleanup, Rock Climbing, Tubing Down The Brandywine, and some other fun ones.  I think my fave event is going to be this December, where the YG will host a babysitting night for the congregation.  The parents can drop off their kids and for a fee the YG will watch them, so they can do things like have a date night or finish their Christmas shopping (we have done this before, and the parents absolutely loved it).  Then, with the money raised, we will "adopt" needy kids from Hilltop Lutheran Center, and the YG will head to Wal-Mart to buy basically the only Christmas presents these kids will see this year (and with the economy so bad, they expect more needy kids and less donations).  With what they have averaged in the past, we are expecting to do 10 kids!!I am also really excited because for next year (2010-2011) we are going to try to put together a retreat for high school age youth on "difficult decisions", regarding things like peer pressure, drinking, sex, drugs, living your faith at that age, etc, all from a faith standpoint.  We know these kids are facing these issues, and whether it's "condoned" in the church or not, it needs to be talked about, so these kids can be given the tools needed to stand up using their faith and make the right decision about these tempting items.  I am excited for it because I am the one who has been assigned to put it together and write the curriculm!  It would be a weekend long retreat, and it's still in the very very early planning stages, but I can't wait- we already have some resources that we are planning on tapping (like the pastor's wife, who did a retreat like this when she was in HS 20 years ago!).  I feel really honored that they would trust me with something like this.Tonight, I don't know what the plan is, but I am sure we will come up with something!Tomorrow, looking at another apartment, and then our pool's annual Luau is tomorrow night- should be tons of fun, it always is!Sunday, churc, and then some hard busy bee time with some wonderful ladies that I know :)))Steph- Do you have the location down yet, so I know where to go?Jackie- Good for you!  That's an awesome thing you did, writing that, and you should be incredibly proud of yourself :)  I am happy for you!  I hope you are feeling somewhat better as well!As for the Michael Vick thing, well I have a whole rant on that- and it's not necessarily what everyone else has been saying.  If you want to read it, check the FB :)

Today - working until 7 and then having some margaritas with my sil. Saturday - working overtime from 9-3. then doing a ton of errands that i've been putting off for a few weeks.Sunday - my sister's baby shower!! can't wait. And since we're talking about Michael Vick... I personally don't like him at all. I think it is wrong what he did, and I don't think he was penalized enough. However, I understand it is a very common thing in the South. At first, I couldn't understand why the Eagles would sign him, as we got rid of Owens for all the drama. I think Vick is a great player and will probably end up helping the team. I just don't know if the pros outway the cons.

Jackie - awesome job on the petition!  If you can come sunday, FB or email me (tonysgurl020406 at yahoo) for Sarahs address - were getting together at about 1:00.Brit - I sent a email this morning about the Sunday details.  I have email issues, so if you didnt get it let me know and Ill resend.  Also, good job w/ your YG :)Amber - enjoy your visit with yur mom :)Sarah - thats awesome, thanks!  If your not finding a ring you love - I highly recommend going up to Philly's jewelers row....  Its something like 32 or 34 jewelers in a 3 block radious.  Its awesome!  I have a yellow gold band, and was having a hard time finding a band, Id always see the same few bands, and I didnt LOVE them...  We drove up, hit 4 stores, and found a band we both loved,  they are negotiable, custom made my ring, and appriased for much higher then we paid - almost 40% higher.  If youd like more details, let me know.Lura - peach picking sounds fun!  Have fun tonight at the Farmhouse - I love venue visits!!Jenn - have fun at the baby shower!  FTR - Michael Vick absolutely disgusts me.  I know he "paid his debt" and blah, blah, blah - but he still should not be put in the spotlight and idolized by kids.  JMO, but he skeeves me.

Amber, have lots of fun with your mom, and creating memories for your son to treasure.  I know that it's tough, but I have to say, you have been a role model in love for a parent- both for your son and for me.  What you have done to make her happy really makes me look up to you.Just thought I would let you know that :)  I am sure your son looks up to you very much as well, even if he doesn't say it often :)

my two cents...a lady on 93.3 said it perfectly this morning...why is it that when a regular person commits a crime (not a murder, but like stealing a pack of ciggy's etc.) it goes on their record and it becomes very hard for them to get a job after they are released from prison, but when a celebrity commits a crime, they have no problem getting a job?
