I'm halfway through my periods and I'm loving it already. I've been cracking jokes with my 8th graders and you can see the attitude smirk melt right off of their face and turn into a smile. =)  I like the kids thus far.I think I scared my advanced 7th grade class.  They have an essay to write and it's due by Friday.  I told them that if they didn't turn it in on Friday they would have a 0 for their first grade.  They were just looking at me all wide-eyed and with scared looks on their face.  I love it!

    You sound like an awesome teacher!  What do the 7th graders have to write about?  Why did you choose Jr. high level to teach?

    Their essay is all about themselves.  They are going to tell me about their family, their interests, their strengths, and what they like about school.  I gave them complete instructions on what to do for each paragraph.  I told them that since it's all about them that it should be easy for them to put together.  I feel that middle school is a very crucial time for students.  They are becoming teenagers, learning about themselves, and they begin to make decisions that can affect their lives.  I also like that I can be sarcastic with them and joke with them.  But, I want them to have someone who cares about them and will listen to them if they need it.  I wouldn't trade it for the world. =)

    my mom teaches 2nd grade, and she has always said middle school is where they need the strongest teachers. they are lucky to have you. =)
