Doggie Donation Wording

We met through our love of animals. We are making a donation to a local non-profit animal hospital. A card will be place on a table near our dogs at the wedding.I am just trying to figure out wording about the donation. Something like...To show our love for animals and how we met because of it we have made a donation to XXX animal hospital. Any other ideas?!?!

Re: Doggie Donation Wording

  • {Pic of Annie, our furbaby} ...Blah, blah, blah...Thank you..."We believe that everyone deserves unconditional love, and sometimes, a second chance at life. In that spirit, we have made a donation to the ASPCA in your honor." Works for us.
  • I like the above wording but I would leave off the "in your (the guests') honor" part and change it to something about in honor of how you and your FI met instead.  Leave the guests out of it.

  • I would just make the donation and not tell anyone about it. Then, I would enjoy the tax benefits.

  • Don't donate on people's behalf.  That is awkward and presumptuous.

  • The rescue center puts bricks in the landscaping of the grounds with "Gift of The Smith Wedding" & date. So $2 of our donation goes towards brick engraving, the rest goes to the pups.
  • Clarification....I am not doing the donation as favors for our guests nor am I putting a card on the table just to "show off" we made a donation.

  • Good, but still don't add "in your honor" in the program.

  • we are donating to the rescue shelter where we got our dog, and we are doing it in lieu of favors.  I understand it may be awkward to donate on behalf of our guests, but I'd rather have the money help the shelter than to purchase bags of M&M's or something to be eaten or tossed out by our guests.Something I just came up with actually though, as sort of a compromise to the situation, is that via vistaprint.com, we can do photo magnets.  Half would be a photo of us with our dog from our engagement shoot, and the other half would state there was a donation made to the shelter where we got our dog.  People can take the magnets home, cut it in half, and then they have a picture of us they can put on their fridge.  If they toss it, whatever, vistaprint is cheap and the main $ is being spent on the shelter as it is.Thoughts?
  • State it as "in celebration of our wedding," or something along those lines.
  • August - do the donation but don't use the "in lieu of" phrase anywhere.  Just do it quietly.  You don't tell your guests what they're not getting.

  • Thanks Jenni, I'll use "In celebration..." instead.
