Key West Elopement/Honeymoon

Hello!

Looking for a few reccomendations in Key West for sometime between May - July.

Good travel agent? Good place to stay? Good places to eat? Any particular businesses to use for a simple beach ceremony?

Thanks!!

Re: Key West Elopement/Honeymoon

  • Congrats and Welcome to the board!

I know we've got at least a couple of ladies who just had weddings down there and I'm sure they will chime in with their recommendations.
  • I'm planning my wedding in Key West for Jan 2014. It will be at the Hyatt in Key West. They do many of them for cruise ships etc (we are getting married while in port).  I'm doing all my planning through a company down there called A Wedding For You. They work in conjunction with a cruise travel agency that I think can book airfare, etc too. Not sure if that is what you are looking for but feel free to check them out.
  • Stick around!  We've got several Key West brides that should pop in soon!    Rach just left for her wedding in KW and we are expecting a full report from her when she returns!

  • So I can't comment on a hotel for Key West, but I can say that I've been here before and it is absolutely amazing. I think Key West is a fabulous place for your wedding. I was there for two days during a cruise and wished we could stay longer.

Enjoy the planning. You wil definitely enjoy the area.

  • Hi! I am also a Key West bride :) We are getting married April 13th of this year at Southernmost on the Beach.

I have not stayed at Southernmost of the Beach before but my Dad travels all the time and this his is favorite hotel in the world.  Southernmost Resorts has a few properties all located right next to/across the street from one another and they are all VERY nice looking.  We did a tour of all of the properties and several rooms at each when we signed our room block contract, and I was highly impressed.  They also have 2 pools and 2 pool bars, live music at the pools, and fun activities for guests.  I've also heard good things about Pier House and Ocean Key, but I've never stayed at either of those.

As far as wedding coordinator, we hired Nika Stroble from Soiree Key West.  She is great! Our wedding is around 100 people, but she also coordinates intimate ceremonies on the beach too.  I would recommend checking her out.  I've also heard people talk about Aaron Wechter - in fact, my wedding planner recommended him when we were looking for officiants.

Food - there are a lot of great places to eat! Our favorite is def Blue Heaven.  You have to go there at least once while you are in KW! The Southernmost Beach Cafe is also a pretty cool place and has good food - but I may be a little biased since they are catering our wedding :)

Trip advisor is always a good place to look too, if you are looking for restaurant, hotel, or activity recommendations.  If you have any other questions about vendors or things to do in Key West, let me know! I am by no means a KW expert, but I've been a few times :)

  • Hi! I'm planning my wedding in Key West as well (April 15, 2014). We are leaving with a group of about 40 on the Carnival Magic ship. I'm still deciding but I'm pretty sure I'll be going through Weddings To Go Key West. They seem to have the most upfront information on their website (very straight forward) and a ton of great reviews. They also seem to be the most affordable option for what I'm looking for.

We aren't having a reception there since we have to be back on the ship that day soon after our wedding ceremony; instead we'll have one on the ship since Carnival will give us a free party with our huge group. Very excited :) I'm still sorting out group transportation, eekk.
