Re: poll-favors

After a lot of consideration and thought, I've decided NOT to do favors. The past four weddings I've been to have not had favors and no one seemed to notice at all. We are paying for the entire wedding ourselves, so we've decided to save money in this area and ditch the favors.

I'm pretty sure we're going to skip the favors, too. There's nothing we could get that everyone would appreciate, so I'm gonna count us feeding and boozing everyone to be a favor! =)

We did little boxes that I bought at Michael's and stuffed them with Hershey Kisses.  Everyone seemed to like them a lot and they were relatively easy and inexpensive since we found the kisses on sale at Wegmans. We just went to a wedding on saturday and their favors were CDs with the wedding party's favorite songs on them.  I just left mine there. I didn't like any of the songs that were on the cd. and that was probably really bad of me as a recent bride myself but I didn't want it and after a few long island ice teas that was the best solution I came up with.

We are doing photo coasters (which also double as place cards) and we also did Hershey Kisses wrapped in toole.  I probably would have only done the hershey kisses but I got a really good deal on the coasters when they were on sale for .99 for a set here on the knot.  We also are doing individual 2 tier cakes for centerpieces at each table and we will have cake bags on the table for people to take the left over cake home with them.  We opted for cake centerpieces because then we wouldn't have to pay for centerpieces-we had to pay for the cake no matter what so we just used it to do double duty!

I am doing a candy buffet, with tons of different choices of candy, cookies, etc. Almost everone i know loves candy and after a night of drinking and dancing i figured people would love some treats to take home with them. It is something i figure if you want it, you fill your bag up and if you aren't interested you don't need to worry about leaving a favor at the recpetion site for someone to find/clean up. I also think visually it will look awesome and a love of sweets is something my FI and i share.

Instead of handing out favors we donated money to March of Dimes in honor of my flower girl. We'll just put a note on the table telling them what we did.

We are doing kisses and wildflower seed packets. I thought it would be cute since we're having a spring wedding.

we were not going to do favors but ended up doing 2. Color was a big part of our wedding so we did choclate dipped pretzel rods with either colored sprinkles or drizzle in our colors which people raved about and then we found small wine bottles, red and a white, that were so cheap and we made lables for them and again people really liked them. so we went from nothing to 2 and they were great and not alot of money

We gave Ghirardellli chocolates.  I would definitely go the edible route so you aren't stuck with lots of leftover candles, coasters, wine stoppers, etc.

Since my family is from Pittsburgh my mom HAD to do the Pittsburgh tradition of a cookie table. I went along with it and used it as a favor too. I bought little cake boxes from a party store and decorated them with simple laser printer labels that had our monogram and a little thank you poem. The cookies were made by family and friends of the family which was perfect because everything was homemade and there were so many different kinds to choose from! So we put the cookies out for everyone a little later in the evening and arranged the boxes around the tiers of cookies. Guests were able to eat some at the reception and take some home for later. Worked out great and was super inexpensive!
