Invitations - Advice Needed

I have everyone asking me what they can help with, so I gave in let someone help with the invites.  But we are like less than 8 weeks away and they are still not done.  So do I just take over and do them myself - or do we still have time to get them sent out?

We sent ours out at two months, the RSVP date was about a month later, and head counts for the vendors were due a week or two after that, to give us time to call anyone who hadn't responded. You might be able to get away with sending them out closer to the date, depending on how many people you're inviting (if it's mostly close friends/family you can probably afford a shorter time between the mailing and RSVP dates) and when your vendors need head counts.Have you talked to the person making your invites? Tell him/her when you need to send them out and if s/he can have them done by then?

8 weeks may be cutting is close if you wait any longer. I would just maybe ask for a status update and let them know that you would be willing to help wrap them up so that you can get them out by the end of the week. This may put a little fire under their a$$. If you get them out by the end of this week, and make the RSVP 4 weeks from then, you should be fine. In wedding world they say 6-8 weeks, but I really don't think that matters at all. We sent our out the last week in June and gave it until August 1 (5 weeks). I actually thought this was way too much time because a lot of people forgot and we had to call and harrass them for their rsvp card.

I would call said friend and first, thank them again for their offer.  I would then ask them if you can swing by and pick them up, as  you have some time now to work on them, and need to get them all completed and ready to send by say Friday.  Tell them you understand they are probably "midprocees" and incomplete and thats okay, and you appreciate all their work, but you just need to get them out now.
