Introing Myself & Maui Photographer Recommendations

Hi all,I just wanted to introduce myself to the Hawaii board.  I'm getting married in Maui next May.  I have been pretty good at planning everything myself...but I would love to hear advice and feedback from other Maui brides, past and present! As of right now, my biggest issue is that our photographer, who we were bringing over from Oahu, had to cancel.  She had a REALLY good price point and the photo journalistic style that I am looking for.  I just want to ask if folks have other photographer recommendations in Maui along these lines:1. Have a photo journalistic / editorial / edgy style2. Budget: $1500 or less for about 5 hours and incl. at least a retouched CDI know this might be asking too much, but I just wanted to put it out there.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Cheers!-Malia

I'm not sure about photographers based on Maui, but I know that Dulce by Visionari has a package for $1500 that includes 4 hours of photos plus a retouched CD with images. They are definitely photojournalistic and do amazing work. Ringobubblegirl used them and her pictures were gorgeous!! I'm using Visionari for my wedding. You would have to fly them over from Oahu so there is a travel fee involved, but maybe you can negotiate with them on prices/packages/etc. Here is their website: http://www.dulcephoto.com/

i think we are going to go with Behind the Lense, nicole Sanchez. She is on maui. She is super nice to communicate with, and her prices are unbeatable (4 hours, 850 for all the images on a cd). She is pretty simple, but very good, with the photos. nothing too stylised. Im not sure what you are looking for, but she seems like a good deal for what you pay. There are some beautiful photographers on maui who shoot magazine quality images, but i was shocked at how expensive they were!

Hi and welcome!  Try checking out Rachel Roberston--we ended up with a different photographer that we already knew, but if I remember correctly she was flexible in pricing and we loved her work. Good luck, I'm sure you can find something!

Hi Malia, I'm also getting married in Maui next year and I booked Kim Aihara from Aihara Visuals. Here's her website: www.aiharavisuals.com. Her work is amazing and right now she's running some amazing specials if you book before August 31st: 20% off all packages and 1 hour additional free which can be used as an add on to the wedding day, trash the dress or engagement. She's very sweet, VERY responsive and most of all knows her stuff! I ended up paying $1200 for a 3 hour package (normally $1,500) plus I'm adding on the free hour to the wedding day (so 4 hours total the day of) and she retouches the images and gives you ALL the images on a DVD with the release to print on your own. We also received a print credit of $100. Hope this helps!!

My photog, Joanna Tano would probably be in that range too!

I second Dulce by Visionari.  Their prices are online, but email me if you want a link to our slideshow.  ringobubblegirl at gmail.  They're photojournalistic and I didn't really notice them the whole day.  Their travel fee from Oahu for 2 photographers was $600, which is something you will have to factor in.  They're not super edgy (i.e. massive photoshopping), but they're definitely dramatic, classic, and photo journalistic.

Thank you ladies!  My WC Taylor Jerome suggested Rachel Robertson, Joanna Tano (her photographer for her wedding) and Aihara Visuals..ones that you guys love too.  I've put in requests so we'll see what happens!  Thank you all for the info...this is fun! :)
