Father Daughter Dance

ok ladies I am having a little bit of trouble with this one. My father passed away 10 years ago. My uncle is the one that will be walking me down the isle and giving me away. When my father passed my uncle took on the role of being daddy. I really want to do the father daughter dance but I'm not sure how to do it. If anyone has any ideas that would be great cause I have no clue?

    You could have a moment of silence in honor of your dad before the dance with your uncle. Then have the DJ say something like "since her father has passed, *torabeaarmy's* Uncle has played a very important (father)role in her life and at this time she would like to thank her uncle by dancing to *song name*."  Or something like that.  Ask your DJ, I'm sure he/she has had experience with this or I'm sure someone else here may have a better suggestion.

    You just pick a song and dance to it. It's simple, there's no wrong way to go about it. You can have it announced but it doesn't have to be made a big production.I lost my dad about 6 years before my wedding. My brother walked me down the aisle but I danced with my mom during the traditional bride-parent dance time. They just said "the bride will be dancing with her mother," no further explanation was needed. Later in the evening I danced with my brother and my godfather.  Also announced but again just their relationship to me and the song. I felt that making a point of saying she will dance with ___ in place of her father would have just been too sad. Most people knew why I danced with my mom and those on his side that didn't, probably figured it out because the memorial in our program.
    I'm pretty sure it's pronounced your mom's a moron and if you didn't have your name legally changed by the age of 22, so are you. Unless you're from another continent. -Groomz

    I agree with pp.  My father passed away when I was young and I plan to walk down the aisle with my mother and step father then dance with my big brother at the reception.  My FI will dance with his grandmother because his mother passed away a few years ago.  We will not have the DJ make any type of announcement or explain why but we will memorialize our parents.

    Not sure if you're up for it, but there's a Brad Paisley song called "The Dad he didn't have to be" about a stepdad. The lyrics are super sweet and might work for you.
