A few weeks ago I met with a florist in Boulder. Prior to driving up there she and I communicated through e-mail and she was well aware of my date and floral budget. The meeting went great and she assured me she'd be able to handle the challenge, etc. Before we concluded the meeting, I told her I was really interested in her work and wanted a proposal. She asked me if she could get it to me in a couple of weeks because she was going to have family in town and wanted to take a break from her business during that time. I told her that was fine and that I was looking to make a decision by the end of August. She asked me if she was the last florist I was meeting with or if there were others. I didn't lie and stated there were others. Fast forward to last week...I e-mailed her on Thursday to remind her that two weeks had passed and that we were ready to make a decision, but needed her proposal. She stated she sent and gave me some crap about her using a different e-mail than usual and that was why I may not have gotten it. I asked her to resend it and to CC my FI, to make sure it didn't get lost. So tonight she sends me an e-mail stating that another bride wants my date and she basically tells me that she going to take the other bride over me because she has larger budget.I think she was holding out on me because she wanted to see if she could get a more money for my date. I don't fault her for wanting more money, I understand she ahs a bottom line to reach for her business. I'm just pissed that she wasted my time and just wasn't honest upfront about needing a minimum order or otherwise having reservations about working with my budget. Anyway, I told her to keep her biz and we are going with a better candidate. Just needed to vent.
