WWYD?

I mentioned a couple weeks back that I was getting an order for a baby shower cake...  WELL.DW quoted the price and told the girl to email me to work out a theme and everything else.  The price DW quoted was too low but I was going to make the cake anyhow and just suck it up.  I told DW that the girl still hadn't emailed me as of the 7th, and that the order needed to be in by the 10th, 2 weeks before the cake is to be delivered.  The 10th came and passed and still no email.  Today DW saw her and was told that she hadn't emailed me because her mom had surgery this month and that she hadn't had time.  She told DW that she would email me today and that the cake needs to be delivered Monday.  I've been checking my email all day and still nothing.  I'm getting frustrated with this "order".  I clearly stated that the order needed to be placed 2 weeks before the delivery date and yet here it is 5 days before the date she needs the cake and I still haven't gotten anything.  I was thinking of charging a rush fee after the 2 week deadline but now it's so close to the date that I just don't want to make it anymore.Am I being unreasonable if I tell her that I can't make it?

I think you are being completely reasonable.  You have been waiting for info on the cake and she has not given it to you.  As long as you stated your terms I think you are right to cancel.  BUT will she go around not recommending you?

She never actually placed the order so I have every right to tell her I won't make it.  I stated my terms clearly from the first mention of the cake and she chose to not to do anything until now (still hasn't emailed me as of 5 minutes ago).If she won't recommend me to anyone else than what can I do..?  She didn't order anything as far as I'm concerned.

She didn't place the order in time, period! Who waits until just days before an event to order the cake anyway??

If she was thinking she could have a cake made within ordering it within days, then she must really just want a sheet cake from the grocery store. That is just insane that she would do that. She couldn't take 5 mins to send an email?
