Just for a keepsake. Buy a two pack, they are about the same price as the singles.

It's a personal preference for you to have one or two.  One to toss and one to keep.  I know that I am wearing two and maybe three at some point (i might wear two and then take one off after mass and put the other one on).  My grandmother is giving me her garter to wear on my wedding day that she wore when she married my grandfather 51 years ago (both of my aunt's wore it on their wedding day too).  This has made me want to have one to keep and one to toss, so that one day I may continue the tradition.

I am doing 2...my FI is a huge Steelers fan, so I found a Steelers garter that I will keep as a memory and it will be a surprise for him, and the other will toss. If I didn't think of that idea I would have only done the toss one!

My aunt is from Puerto Rico and she got me a custom garter with hand-tatted lace and with this particular garter, the lace can later be taken off to be put on a baby's baptism bonnet or dress.

I would purchase two. One for the toss and one to keep. I'm getting a special garter in my fiances favorite football team as a little surprise. This is something that I think would be neat for him to see again later on the honeymoon. : )

I didn't do any (we skipped the garter toss, but did the bouquet toss). It's perfectly fine to just buy a toss one (cheapie) unless you particularly want a second keepsake one, too.

I'm skipping the garter thing completely.
