    there is no reason a child of 5 should not be toliet trained unless they have a form of retardaton/are a "spectrum kid"/disabled. That's awful.

    I have a co-worker who goes for the "well, no one gets married still wearing diapers' POV.I'm suspecting one of her kids (all over 18 now) will get married wearing diapers.

    OH.EM.GEE. I don't care what the excuse is, there is no reason for a 5 yo to be going to school and not be potty trained. If the diaper is too comfortable, buy a different brand that isn't so comfortable.

    Mrs Bird’s seven-year-old daughter wore nappies until she was five and still wears them at night.     Maybe I'll understand this better when I have a 3 or 4 year old, but for now, I just. don't. get. it.  People my age were potty trained at 18-24m.  Now somehow there's a physiological reason that children can't be?  Personally, I blame the disposable diaper and pull-up industry. I'll bet good money that they started the "wait until the kid is ready" movement or were at least instrumental in spreading the word.  There's not a lot of financial incentive for keeping kids in cloth an extra year or two.FTR, this (+ money savings) is the main reason we are using cloth diapers.  I'm digging in my heels on this one. I hope I"m not unpleasantly surprised when I get to the point where I get to "fully understand" this.

    I'm one of the potty-train-when-the-kid-is-ready but if the kid is passed 3 then it's not longer a choice of being ready.

    I forced my four-year-old. SHE WAS FOUR. H and I basically said to her, "You're not a baby, and you're not getting anything until you go on the potty all the time. No toys. No desserts. No TV. No computer. This is unacceptable: you're FOUR."She was finished training in a day. And that was us being lax about it, because we'd moved twice during the process.

    Also, her kid needs to go to a urologist and a nephrologist. Wetting at all is a sign of something not good at that age.

    lol at Wifezzilla. I babysat for a family that had a 4yo who was still in diapers. Think baby crap smells bad? Imagine changing a 4 yo sized poopy diaper. I also took care of a kid who was 5 and needed help wiping.

    WTH?  7 and still having accidents?  Shouldn't she be embarrassed about that?  How do they even find diapers to fit her?

    Well, they do make diapers that big, mostly for special needs/spectrum/disabled kids.  Homemade cloth diapers come in very handy for those situations, too, because disposables get VERY expensive, especially when you're going to be using them forever.

    and four-five outfits a day!  how do they find clothes that fit over the diapers?  and i don't think they make diapers for 7yos, and this is fat america.

    srsly.  even min's rescue pups don't have to wear the camo panties of shame for weeks and weeks.  and dogs have the mentality of a 2yo.

    Nephew just turned two. He's like 99% potty trained already. In the 4 days we were gone, he had one accident. There is no excuse for a seven year old. Does she wear Depends?

    FI's nephew is 13 and stll has night accidents/has to wear the diaper things to bed. But, his is a medical condition. He has an underdeveloped bladder or something of that nature. They said it happens every now and then to kids, and as he matures into a teenager his bladder will catch up.
