Caramel Apple Help

I am getting married October 24th and I have always wanted to have caramel apples as favors for my guests.  It would be very expensive to buy them from a candy store, where they run about $3.50/apple.  I was surprised to learn that there is an apple orchard in the area, so I called to see if they could do them.  Unfortunately their apples were ruined this year by a late freeze and bad storms.  I am scared that if I try to make them myself that they will not turn out right or it would take way too much time as we will probably have to have close to 200 apples.Does anyone know of a place where I could get cheaper caramel apples?  Or even mini caramel apples?

    What a cute idea! Umm maybe you could buy apples in bulk from the grocery store and see if a local bakery (or better yet your cake bakery) would carmel-ize them for you?

    Try Daffy Apple.  You can get a case of 24 apples for $26 and you can buy the clear cellophane bags to wrap them in separately for like $.18.  A girl on my club board is doing this for her favors and that's where I saw it.

    That is a very cute idea. You could also do apple slices. That's all I have got... Sorry!

    I was thinking of having these as a late-night snack before the end of the reception. I was hoping to do mini ones with the little lady apples because they're so darn cute. I'm planning on asking if my caterer can do them, but now I'll have to check out Stephie's rec, too!

    If I didn't have the whole "champagne" theme going, I would have definitely done this for my favors.  It requires a little assembly but it's very doable and I think it would be so cute for a fall wedding.

    Although, I'm hoping to have tiramisu plus wedding cake, plus a candy buffet for the favors, so maybe a late snack of caramel apples would be too much. hehe

    Ugggh, I should totally have just stuck to the candy buffet.  Favors seem like total overkill now!  They better be darn cute.

    I gave away mini sliders, fries, and to-go milkshakes at the end of my reception... Everyone loved it! It was my hommage to late-night, too much to drink kind of food. :)

    Uhh, yeah, stephie, I'm planning on doing other "favors" in addition to the candy buffet. I'm hoping to make feathered masks to go on each place setting. But I'm considering those more "decor" than "favors" I suppose.

    I have no suggestions for where you can go but I would suggest you try making the caramel apples before you definitely decide on doing them.I knew a girl last year that did this without having a trial and found the caramel has slipped off the apple the morning of.

    You should def. do Daffy Apple- they are priced well and they don't seem very hard to assemble into their packages if you choose to do that.  The only this is that the shipping can be a little pricy.
