Brazilian wax--thoughts?

I've never done this, never even had a waxing of any kind at all, but thought this might be ideal before the honeymoon. Does anyone recommend it, love it, or hate it?  and if you recommend it, where's a good place to go?TIA!

I swear by them - just take a bunch of Advil beforehand and don't go any time close to that time of the month, when you're likely to be more sensitive.  I don't have recs since I go to a spot near work in NoVA; but I'm sure some of the other girls will.

I've never had a brazillian (although I have an appointmentfor one right before our wedding) but have gotten a bikini wax and would highly recommend it!  It's great for peace of mind and I'm sure it'll be an added bonus for FI/DH.  It's not terribly painful but it definitely doesn't feel good.  Pop an advil or two and you should be fine.  I recommend Denise at Looks in Columbia.  She's great.

I had a bikini wax for the first time the week of the wedding.  I'd definitely recommend it.  It was so nice not having to worry about that during the wedding week and the honeymoon.I went to La Clinica Spa on York Road and saw Ilene.  I had a great experience there and it wasn't anywhere near as painful as I thought it might be.  I really didn't think it hurt much at all, just a little discomfort.  I've also heard that taking an ibuprofen before going will help with the pain, so I did this.  Instead of a Brazilian, I had a French bikini wax.  It takes more off than a regular, but not as much as a Brazilian.

I'm going Thursday before the wedding.  The rehearsal dinner will be a little uncomfortable, but it'll be worth it.

I would highly recommend it. Take a few advil and drink plenty of water before you go. My friend told me this before the first time I had a brazilian done and it totally helped! Apparently if you are dehydrated it hurts more. I would recommend Zhana at About Faces in Towson at Kenilworth Mall. I have been going to her for over 6 years and love her! I am going the day before my wedding, simply because it is a friday and we dont leave for the HM till Monday and we will be away for two weeks and I have also had it done several times before.   HTH!

Kelly - I go to Homa at the Red Door Salon in Vienna.  That place doesn't wow me generally - but she is absolutely wonderful!!

Highly highly recommend one, I get it done once a month (well more like every 5-6 weeks), I would lie if I said it didn't hurt, but like pp suggested, pop a couple of pain relievers and you should be golden. I go to Studio 921 on E. Fort Avenue, in Baltimore city. The esthetician I see is Nicole. HTH

I say definitely do it...husband will LOVE IT!!!It hurts, but it is tolerable, and yes it is awkward...but you make light conversation and it goes okay...totally beat shaving, no bumps, very smoothI go to FX studios in Hunt Valley, it's 75.00...If you know anyone who as been there if you have a referral card from them you get 10% off and "points' for them, after you are done stick around and watch a movie!!!

vjcjenn--I was just looking at FX Studios website today for waxing info!  I know someone who has their hair done there...does that count for the 10% off or would it be only a waxing referral?do you go to anyone specific there for the wax?

yes...tell them she recommended you, it doesn't have to be a waxing to waxing referral...I would say not to book Jennifer there but my favorite gal there left so I've been going to different people and she is the only one I haven't liked

swear by them - I got a rec from HoosierTerp for Leah at Lynn's Day Spa in columbia.  I loved the results and now have added it into my 4-6 week beauty routine :)It does hurt the first time, but the subsequent waxings are SO much less painful.

I've been afraid to have it done, but after all the good feedback here I think I definitely have to do it!  Sounds like it'll be an added bonus for the honeymoon! Thanks!

I LOVE it! Brazillians make life so much easier. Also, If you're going to wax at all, why not just finish the job! I love Danielle at the Renaissance Day Spa in Hunt Valley. I haven't been in a while (watching the budget) and I know she just had a baby so she may or may not be there. Either way, it's a great spa and not terribly expensive. I never take advil or anything. It is definitely not comfortable but also pretty quick and easy! ENJOY
