Coronado Restaurants

Hi!I'm getting married in Coronado in September.  I was wondering if you have any suggestions for restaurants since we've never been there before. We're looking for two restaurants, one for the night before the wedding and one to have dinner the day of the wedding. We'd prefer something in Coronado or not too far away.  So far we have written down Il Fornaio and Peohe's.  Would these be good choices?  Oh, we will have a very small wedding, only 4 people will join us.Thanks!

Peohe's has a fantastic view of the bay and the food is very good. I haven't been to the Il Fornaio down there but the one in Del Mar and their food is pretty good as well. I would choose Peohe's over Il Fornaio because I've had better Italian at other restaurants in San Diego.

Peohe's is one of my favorite restaurants, and Il Fornaio is where we had our rehearsal dinner, so I'd recommend either one!  If you just have 4 people then cost probably isn't a huge concern, so I'd go with Peohe's (which is much more expensive).  They both have the exact same view (they are next to each other, on the water), and both have beautiful interiors (Peohe's is more Hawaiian and Peohe's is more rustic Italian).  If you want other ideas for meals, Miguel's is super yummy casual Mexican (mmmm white sauce ...), and breakfast at the Hotel Del (on the patio) is a great way to see the hotel but not spend a fortune.Another fun Coronado thing would be to go on a gondola ride through the Coronado Cays - you can do a romantic ride for two, or take your whole party (I think they fit up to 8).  Coronado is amazing - you'll have a beautiful wedding!

I used to live in Coronado, and had my small 24-person wedding there as well. Here are my recommendations: IL FORNAIO -- We had our reception here, and were very pleased with the food and service. There are numerous seating options, including private rooms and an outdoor patio, and the restaurant features a fantastic view of downtown and the bay. MIGUEL'S -- This is a casual restaurant with great Mexican food. The menu is fairly straightforward, but the execution is fantastic. Highly recommend! McP'S -- This is an Irish Pub, with surprisingly good food. The owner is a former Navy SEAL, so there is a lot of fun SEAL memorabilia on the walls. We actually had our rehearsal dinner here, on the outdoor patio. VILLAGE PIZZERIA -- There are actually two locations on Coronado, one by the Del and one at the Ferry Landing. Although the food is good at both, the Ferry Landing location has the better view [of downtown and the bay]. My husband and I love the pizza here, although there are plenty of other options on the menu. I have heard good things about Peohe's too. But, given that neither my husband nor I care for seafood, we have never actually eaten there. Congratulations, and best of luck!

I just poked around Candela's, which is upscale Mexican food and a short walk from Il Fornaio. They have a great outdoor space that seats up to 60, but they have a $3500 minimum, not including tax and service. We were very interested in using them for our rehearsal dinner, but that's sooooo pricey! Il Fornaio had 2 outdoor spaces that accomodated 40 and maybe 75? They also had a minimum of at least $2500 for the bigger space. Best of luck!

If it is just the 4 of you, one of the BEST restaurants I've been to in Coronado is Primavera. Hands down the best Italian ever. www.primavera1st.com

I also lived in Nado for years and just moved but am having my wedding in 30 days at the Coronado Community Center,  Don't do village Pizza its more of lunch not rehersal dinner.  I just had dinner at Miguels last night and last week for my moms birthday, make sure and tell them you want patio not inside. The tables are small inside. It is great food and the white sauce is so good!!!   make sure you go for a strole around the ferry landing its a nice walk and great for pictures.
