Hi! I got married in Altoona on July 11th. I used Julie Buck Photography. She is new, but we think she did a great job. Her website is http://www.juliebuckphotography.com/ You can see my pics at http://amandaandandywedding.shutterfly.com/ the password is maeflower409 We had our reception at the Bavarian Aid Society. It is a club in Altoona and you need to be a member. But, you can join for $1. It is not fancy but we liked it. It has a dance floor and a great chandelier. They do there own food and it had a GREAT open full bar. Are you from here? Some other popular reception sites are The Casino at Lakemont (They also cater off site) The Calvin House (on site caterer) The Discovery Center (You need to get your own caterer) The Columns (No caterer) Scotch Run Farms (No caterer) The UVA Club (not sure) The Ramada Inn ( on site food service) The Jaffa Mosque ( I think they have there own) Another great caterer is Catered Affairs. We had a friend do our flowers and we didn't have a videographer Hope this helps.

I have been to several weddings at the Jaffa. It is really big! The last wedding I was at there had about 500 guests and it wasn't full. I think you can just use part of the room. The Laurel Lodge was a little small for our 300. The room is long and narrow, but the view is beautiful. It is in a forest. I think there are rooms you can rent there. Not hotel service, but just rooms to sleep in. My mom wanted to have my shower there and had trouble getting them to call her back. Our Dj was J&J Entetainment, They were good. Our favorite DJ is Top Dog Productions www.johnstowndj.com but he was booked for our date. Are you dress shopping here? Let me know if I can help with anything else.

Your Pictures and You are gorgeous!  What church is that? I am getting my dress here in Michigan because of alterations and what not, i can't go back and forth that much.  I heard that the Lodge isnt great with communicating...that kind of scares me!!   Thank you so much for your help!

I had my reception at The Ramada in Altoona. They are very easy to work with, food is great, and it is nice that your out of town guests can stay right there too. (Also, it is convenient if any of your guests have too much to drink.) Photographer - Stages photography (stagesphoto.com) Videographer - Charlie Gudeman (Creative Media Group) - Bellefonte

If you are getting married in the Altoona area check out www.falgermedia.com, they are new and reasonably priced for videography.

I know this is a little late and I don't normally post; however I was married June 6th in Hollidaysburg.... Our rehearsal dinner was at The Blairmont Club. The food was excellent and it was the perfect set-up for us to relax with our guests before the big day. They also have wedding packages. Our reception was at The Casino at Lakemont. They were wonderful to work with and met all of our expectations for our reception. Our cake was made by the bakers at The Casino. It was excellent. Lisa Becker made our groom's cake (which we served at the rehearsal dinner) and it was also excellent. We used Kris McElligott from KMPhotography for our photographer. She's out of York, PA. We loved her and I highly recommend her! Steve Kelsey was our DJ. He was extremely easy to work with and did a great job working in our "must plays" and respected our "do not plays." He kept the dance floor packed all night and people raved about him. He actually plays 45s for the oldies - older guests loved this! Hope this helps!

Most of the videographers and photographers in the area would probably be willing to travel. JKM is a good videographer in the Lancaster area that I know is willing to go all over the state. Similarly, Minnig Photography: www.michaelminnig.com also would probably cover Altoona at no additional cost.

This is way late post on this forum but we're looking for an affordable reception site in Altoona that will house about 100 people - any ideas?
