Your Opinion Please - Slippers or Ballet Slippers - and where to get them

Hi y'all,

I do love the idea of flip flops for tired feet (I've never been great at dancing all night in stilettos). However, I never did get the "hang" of walking in flip fllops. Don't ask me why, but I trip in those suckers every time.

So, I am thinking about providing an alternative. Maybe ballet flats or actual slippers (something not too fuzzy). Does anyone have suggestions on the following:

- Is this an okay idea (I can take honesty)
- Style of slipper?
- Where to get them? I'm hoping to stay around $5 per pair but could go up a bit
- Cute ways to display them so people know they are "for the taking"

    Honestly, I wouldn't bother.  I can't imagine anyone would actually use them.  I never take my shoes off at weddings, I don't know many people that do. 
     I just think you could save the money and use it toward something else.

    I bought a pair from llbean that i would use again (they were ballet slipper like and not traditional slipper type) because i totally take my shoes off....two of my bridesmiads ended up getting them too.

    If you aren't sure, I say bag it.

    I think that is a great idea for you- you can get cute ones from Dessy.com for about $28.  I don't think you need to provide them for your guests.  If you are doing a beachy/outdoorsy type of wedding and really want to provide alternate shoe options, I think you should go with flip flops.

    I did the flipflops for guests and had a great reaction.  Everyone including my grandma was wearing them!  I think it varies by crowd though.  I don't think it's worth spending more than a couple of bucks per pair though so I would just suggest getting flipflops for everyone else and finding a nice pair of ballet flats for yourself.  I didn't wear the same flipflops as guests bc I needed some height to match my shoes so the dress didn't drag on the floor.

    Don't spend too much on items for your guests. The most common footwear choice is the flip flop. Both Michaels and Old Navy regularly have them on sale for $1 each. 

    For yourself and the bridal party you could do something a little bit nicer, but remember, you don't want their or your dresses dragging on the ground.

    And as pp said, who will wear them varies by crowd. Just something to keep in mind. At my friends wedding a few months ago, it seemed the only people who used them were her teenage cousins who wore really high, really sexy shoes for the wedding, but were not accustomed to wearing heels. So they changed into comfy flip flops. I didn't notice anyone else. Just something to think about. I never would change my shoes at an event. I think about the day and what to expect and use that to select my footwear choice.

    (I do however have 1 1/2 " sandals to change into for our wedding, if I really need something.)HTH! GL!
