I'm nearly done with Dance with Dragons (well, by "nearly" I mean, "over halfway") so I am in the market for new books.  I tend to alternate fiction and nonfiction, but lately I've just been overlapping and picking one nonfiction and one fiction and just reading whatever I'm in the mood for.

Here's some other stuff on my list right now:
Luke's gospel
The Lamb's Supper
Three to Get Married

I need some good fiction, y'all!  What are you reading right now?

    Definitely not fiction, but I'm just finishing up Holy Sex!, which is amazing. I'm possibly going to read Catholic Bioethics next. If I get around to reading fiction, it will either be a book by Ellen Hopkins, The Two Towers, or aSciFi book FI wants me to read.

    I'm in the middle of "Motherless". The "Fatherless, motherless, and childless" trilogy is awesome catholic fiction, with real research on the effects and the future of the world with abortion, ivf, etc. Highly recommend it

    Fatherless goes first.

    I rarely ever read fiction, but very off and on I'm reading Jurassic Park (DON'T LAUGH!).  I just never read fiction, so when I do, I want it to be just a pure fun read, and I love the movie so much I figured it was time to read the book.


    Really, I'm reading Scott Hahn's "A Father who keeps his promises".  It's really great, and mostly because it's like a succinct bible summary.  He goes through all the main happenings of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, etc.  It's really great because it's like a good bible refresher, but it also ties it together so much into one big picture.  When you read scripture, it's so easy to read it just as a big mess of disparate events, but Hahn makes it into one coherent story.  Plus, he gives very interesting exegesis to some of the highlighted events.

    Definitely recommend.

    My short list for books to read after that are Three to get married, TOB for beginners (I read Good news about sex and marriage while FI read TOB for beginners, and then we switched, but I haven't read it yet since I've also been reading the Hahn book), and the Love Languages book.

    Then maybe I'll read the sequel to Jurassic Park ;)



    ETA:  Lamb's supper is sooooooooooo good.

    Karen Kingsbury has some great fiction books. I love every single book of her's I read. Her stories are so inspiring and the characters become like family

    I am currently reading A Feast for Crows then probably a Dance for Dragons. Also I'm not laughing about Jurassic Park, I love Michael Crichton books and have read a bunch! Some of my favorites include The Andromeda Strain and Airframe. Other books I really enjoyed are The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini and his newest book And the Mountains Echoed is on my to read list for when it comes out in May. For more of a light fun read I like the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich.

    I'm in the process of moving and that means rediscovering my bookshelves--including all the books I'e had stored here at my parents'!  Especially for this Lenten season, I'm re-reading Death on a Friday Afternoon about Christ's Passion.  I'd started it before but not finished it.  I'm trying to give myself the time to absorb it rather than rush to get through.  Now that I'm home again, I'm also indulging myself in sme old journals, kept sporadically since I was about 16.  Wow, now that's a blast from the past.

    Whoops, missed Prof's original request for fiction suggestions.  I enjoy more literary fiction, what some might consider "lyrical" with beauitufl images and language and still a compelling story.  They're not my current reads, but my favorites include:
    Peace Like A River by Leif Enger
    Center of Winter by Marya Hornbacher
    Montana 1948 by Larry Watson
    Plainsong by Kent Haruf

    Just finished Anna Karenina and am on to Les Miserables!  I have lots of long bus rides to and from work to get my reading time in... 

    A really short fiction book that's a bit more sci-fi that I read recently is "Tales of the Telmaj" by a blogger that I'm a fan of.  It was really engaging and well-written!  Despite being intended for kids, I really enjoyed it a lot!  It's only $2.99 for kindle...

    Right now I'm re-readingg the Harry Potter series.  I'm not even going to act embarrassed, because HP is awesome lol.  I'm sorta/kinda reading Holy Sex!, but I really want H to read it with me and he's been too busy, so I'm probably just going to wait for him. 

    I love chick lit, so all my recs are Kinsella, Weiner, etc.  They have plenty of immortality, but that's the world we live in, I guess.

    After I finished Dance with Dragons, I read the books Divergent and Insurgent - recommended as books to read if you liked The Hunger Games, which I did.  They're a variance on the "world in the future/post-apocolyptic" thing, and I found them pretty interesting.  A third book in the series is due out this October.

    I just started on The Hangman's Daughter, the first in a four book series - they were for sale on Amazon for $.99 each.  Not far enough it to say for sure how they are, but it's interesting up to this point.

    First off, I'm super jealous you're reading Harry Potter. I've read the first 4 books 15 times (so no judgment), but it has been more than two years since I've read any of them. Too long.

    Secondly, although I would recommend reading Holy Sex! like yesterday (I feel silly saying that as an unmarried woman to a married woman), it is definitely better when read together. That is what FI and I have been doing with the many, many marriage and sex books we've been reading lately (his computer is broken and, well, I just failed an exam). We have had so many amazing conversations lately and it has really strengthened our relationship.

    I'm trying to get through "Les Mis." 

    I most recently finished the Hunger Games series.

    "Sinner" by Lino Rulli is next on my list.
